You don't like the 275 GTB? Or the 250 LM? And... and... That's where the inspiration came from... great cars from the past... 599 GTB Fiorano for me... a perfect looking GT... But the F430 comes really close in terms of looks
I think that the 360 is a better looking car than the 430. That being said, I have seen 3 599's up close. Metallic black, silverstone, and the darker red. I can honestly say that the 599 is the best looking car that I have ever seen. It is as close to a work of art as a car can be. I have a 360 spider for I love ragtops, but if I could have a 599, I would dump the 360 in a heartbeat.
...Which others? The tail lights on the 599 look like tacked-on after thoughts. 'Damn, we forgot tail lights, just mush something into the clay mock-up'... The 275 rear looks somewhat unfinished as well.
Same. Looks a bit unfinished, second only to the c-pillar as very questionable Lusso element. Compare the Lusso and 275 GTB rears to the 246 Dino's; similar forms, two vs four lights, much improved appearance on the latter car.
360: Much better rear, much better headlights, better rear fender & lower intake. The 430 is a big visual step backward, a reversion to puberty/adolescence from adulthood. ...Marketing triumphs over the designers.
I just this minute went out to loook at the 599 again to make sure that I wasn't imagining things. It is beautiful. It does evoke thoughts of great old front engined V12 Ferraris. It does have beautiful haunches like a 250 SWB and a 275GTB. It is gorgeous. It is so much more "ferrari" than the 575 ever was, and I loved that car! I'm sorry guys - I have to call BS on all of those comments saying it is the product of focus group committees. This car is stunning, AND I smoked a Supra at the lights today!
It used to be the 430, but since it's inception the 599 (for me) takes the crown as most beautiful Ferrari. Possibly, ever? I think so.
IMHO the 360 Challenge Stradle is the best looking of the modern Mid Engine cars. Its lines are just perfect. The 599 is gorgeous, but I don't think any front engine ferrari will ever match the 250 GTO in looks.
I'll definitelly go for the 599. The aerodynamics are perfect for that car. I'm excited how that car will do the same test as the 612 Scaglietti.
You underestimate taste and intelligence with such statements. 75% are conformist idiots? Do you have any proof of this...done any credible surveys, etc.? Ridiculous. And yes, some of those "beautiful" cars from the past weren't immediately loved when they came out either...lo and behold, they are the greatest designs ever by today's account... you underestimate how much perceptions change over time, and have little faith in our intelligence. Thanks
I believe the 4 tail light design came out after Ferrari had already been making cars for decades ? Does anyone know which Ferrari was first to have 4 tail lights rather than the traditional 2?
...Call me a heretic. I also think the pre-op Pam Anderson was much prettier than today. The c-pillar is a bodge, and the twin tail lights are at the very least too small for the space they sit in (same with the 275). Clearly they used just what was immediately available.
Newbie here. Been enjoying FChat for a few weeks now, especially that mega p4/p5 thread. Almost felt like I was a Ferrari insider! The F430 does it for me. Very sexy and sporty, moving fast sitting still. The 599 has a Toyota Solara rear end that does not compliment the rest of the car. Definitely needs 4 taillights and some other help with weight loss on that fat butt . But the front for the car is another story
toyota rear end? fat butt? just curious, based on pictures or after haven taken a good look in the metal? some cars can look quite different in person, compared to pics.
to me, ferrari means race car and the ultimate race cars are mid engined. a touring gt is nice but thats not ferrari to me 599 is nice but still similar proportions to vette, a/m, jag, etc. 430 can only be a ferrari.
The car in the metal, in three dimensions, is wonderfully proportioned and I can't imagine it having a smaller rear end. The haunches are very evocative of the 250 SWB and the 275GTB and the rear three quarter view is really beautiful. I have heard so many people refer to the the lines as being Corvette like, but I have stared at the car from every angle and the only thing that could be thought of as similar, IMO is the curved rear glass, and even in that together with the flying buttress design of the C pillar is very unique to the 599.
me personally, i loved certain cars in pics...but saw them and they didn't look the 'same' in real life...on the other hand i used to not like the looks of certain cars until i saw them up close, and in motion... the 4-D world changes things a bit i suppose...
