Clax, you are basing your experience off of 1 Z06. Perhaps you did get one of the lower performing Z06s. The previous Z06 did have a substantial amount of performance variation between cars within the same year!

I'm just thinking you drove one of the slower ones. No big deal really. Overwhelming evidence against your position is mounting though. The Z06 already has 3 magazine times which a Gallardo would be envious of having. Not to mention tons of owner experiences claiming the car is an absolute beast. These owners aren't exactly new to performance vehicles either.

I don't think a Z06 will "roast" a Gallardo or a F430 in a straight line, I do think it's faster though. Power/Weight tells us that much. One story against the Z06 doesn't negate 10 stories in favor of the Z06.

Perhaps the most disconcerting is the fact you seem wholly disconcerting with what the Z06 has accomplished. I'll say it straight out, I think the Z06 (again) has shifted the public expectations of how much performance cars in that price range (and above) should have. This car obliterates its similarly priced competition in ways that the previous C5 Z06 could only dream of.

I drove a Geo Metro the other day, and because it felt faster than the 360, it must be.

Hardly. I was excited and eager to drive the car. I wanted to buy one, and this was my chance to feel what all the magazines had been spouting. It's fast, but frankly, it didn't live up to the hype in the rags.

It obliterates its similarly priced competition? Are you referring to the Viper? I love how you guys throw these words around. "Obliterates", "Owns", "Destroys". Get real. The Viper and the Z06 Vette are so close, the Z06 hardly obliterates it.

Hey Clax, I just got my new C&D and it looks like the Z ripped to 150 in 17.9 secs.

Hmm..can your Gallardo do that?..I didn't think so.

Chit, I wasn't supposed to come back and post. Ok, now I am outta here..:)

Being priced substantially less than the Viper and being substantially faster than it. Good enough for me.

Why all this bs about the new Z06? We all know thats fast and is a relative cheap car to buy that will beat a lot of cars including exotics, but so what. Why fight about it, I drive a Gallardo and can care less if it beats my car in acceleration runs, the vette will always be view as a "redneck" car. Like I said before, if in a track then the driver is about 30% more important than the car, if any of you want to prove something then go to a road course and race against each other. I know the outcome will be more related to driver skill.

You think a 45K-65K vehicle is a redneck car? And all this time I thought they were driving 80s Camaros.

10 stories in favor of the Z06? So there are 10 other people (besides myself and 5 other drivers present on the same day) that took a PRODUCTION Z06 (not a pre-production test ringer) and ran it alongside Lambo's and Ferrari's? Really. That's news to me. Share the details.

Ya know Clax, I don't take anything a guy like you says personally. I think the saying goes "consider the source" or something like that. Once again you have completely missed the point. I am sure there are a lot of people out there that have driven much more agressively than I have. I am equally sure that they would spank your ass in the Vette. The fact is in the right hands the Vette is going to beat just about anything out there. So what if the cars is above my capability! That does not make it's capabilities any less now does it! Like I said before, you are a serious piece of work. You need to get over yourself!

Sounds good. While we're at it, you may want to patch up that chip on your shoulder.

You're calling me a piece of work, yet you insist on making comments like "I am equally sure they would spank your ass in the Vette." How sure ARE you? You know my driving capabilities & experience? Interesting.

Look, enjoy your car. It's a fast car. It's a fun car. But don't whine & cry when somebody gives you their impression of how the car compares to other cars. And don't be surprised if you run into an F430 or Gallardo and get your ass spanked. Then you'll want to end your subscription to C&D and MT.

    2] My advice to you:

"trust me, a Z06 is not for you"

    to paraphrase you.

As a reborn decadent 17th century nobleman, you can't live without musing over choices of CF vs zebra dashes, colour cordinated stitching and wi fi. stick with F's!!!!:)

I like all kinds of cars and never stick to just one marque. However, I am a realist and don't get overhyped on any cars until I have experienced them myself. You seem to have a problem with that.
