I would like to mount a set of 430 wheels on my 348.

Is this possible? Can they be machined or modified to fit?

I've attached a Photoshoped pic of what I expect they would look like on my car. Personally, I think they look pretty good.

Let me know as I am simply unable to find a decent set of rims to switch out the factory blade wheels with.

The fronts will be fine, but the rears will stick out quite a bit (too much, worse then 360 wheels), wrong offset. Plus, IMHO your talking about 19" wheels, if you do not plan on upgrading your breaking system with larger disk's, it will look awful, like those SUV's running around with 22" wheels and tiny breaks. Looks like crap IMHO.

I reckon they would look awesome mate! :D:D

You can machine the wheel to fit. Some guys have done it to fit 360 wheels on the 348, so I cant see why they wouldnt fit properly if you machine them to suit. :):)

*IMO* Machining wheels to alter the offset is a disaster waiting to happen, some here feel differently to me on that fact but the reality is you are weakening the mounting surface of the rim, most factory wheels (I have no real world experience with the 430 rim in question here) have around 10=15mm of "meat" on the mounting face plate, that's not a lot to work with from the get go.

Each to their own, but I would not do that sort of modification to a pedal car, let along something running a mid-ship V8.

Find some nice aftermarket wheels, makes life easy. ;)

maybe this suggestion is too boring, but 355 wheels fit great with rear spacers, are quite light and look killer. I think both robbie and 355 dreamer have a set for sale

I have measured quite a few wheels (mostly Porsche OEM) to see if there was enough material to increase the offset by machining. The thickest mouting face I found was just over 12mm.

Absolutely, most of your weight and stress is on the rear, just ask anyone how long rear tires last compared to fronts, now imagine that stress on the rear hub that you have just weakened?

To each his own... But the disk is too small for a 19" wheel, again IMHO...

Those wheels look fantastic, and not a bit of machining is required I presume, therefore that solves the problem of weakening or compromising the 430 wheels if machined.

just my 2 cents, but I think these look great.

    cheers

You're right Mike, no machining necessary. Ronal makes these as a specific application for the 348/355.
I wish I could take credit for these but they were picked out by the previous owner "Bushwhacker". I just love these wheels, they look like something that Ferrari might have offered as an option.:)

my favorite fcar option wheels for the 348 is 355 wheels hands down. I also think the 360 wheels look better on the 348 than the 360. The 430 wheels look decent on the 348 but I love the 355 wheels.

just my opinon and .02 and opinions are like aholes...we all have them.

Wow. Those Ronal wheels look great on the 348. IMHO, better than the 430 wheels.

    very nice wheels.

BTW, how did he do those center caps? They look either like decals or metal brazed to original caps.
