For about one month my 430 will not start every time I use the car. I have had two separate authorized Ferrari dealerships try to figure this out. Of course when the car is at the shop, it starts each time. I have noticed that the car will not go into neutral when you attempt a start.
the car will not start unless it is in "N". Next time it does it, press the brake hard and pull the shifters back. I was stuck for 30 mins. at a gas station one time, could not get it to go to "N". I finally remebered to press on the brake hard and it then shifted.
You are a genius. It started. I first sat in the car and put my foot on the brake and tried to get it into neutral. Nothing happened. I took your advice and pressed the brake hard and it went into neutral and the car started. Thank you so much for the sage advice. My 19 year old son and I are going for a FCA drive on Sunday. He will be thrilled. Me too.
The car will start without the driver selecting Neutral. If you start while in gear, the system will automatically select Neutral for you and then start. The car will also start without the brake being depressed, but it is a good idea to do so since the car is free to roll in Neutral. I always try to select Neutral before starting, but if I forget, the system selects it for me, just like it should on an F430. If at a stoplight in Neutral, though, the car will not shift to 1st without the brake being applied. The F1 F430 works just like my F1 575M, except for the Start pushbutton and manettino. Start problems like yours are often caused by a faulty battery or ground connection, which may be intermittent. Taz Terry Phillips
The word intermittent is a curse. Ask the guys at the shop. Each time I took it back, the car started. I felt jinxed by the car. Ask my son. I thought the car would start in gear but was not sure. Having said this, once in neutral the car started.
