I took my car to a track day last weekend and in the afternoon the car would run fine on the track but then when slowing down for pits it would drop out of gear and refuse to go back in. Reverse also didn't work. No warning lights or any other indications of trouble. The car shifts fine after cooling down.

My theory - I am guessing the F1 system doesn't use the clutch when at speed as it is rev matching the shifts and wouldn't need the clutch. After 20 minutes on the track the clutch fluid was hot enough that it wouldn't release the clutch enough to shift.

Dealer had no idea. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone know of a clutch fluid cooler or maybe a suitable synthetic fluid that is not susceptible to heat failure? Or am I way off base?

Kind of took the smile from passing a mclaren mp4-12c off my face to have to push it back to my parking spot - but just kind of...

I think you are on the right track. I suspect that the clutch is used on the track but once you stop the shaft's rotational speed must be zero of it won't go into gear. If the clutch is dragging the system won't shift while standing still. I would guess that it is a combination of hot fluid, mechanical dimensional change due to heat, and a tight setting on the PIS.

I have tracked my 360 several times and I have never had an F1 related issue.

I would give Competizione and Sports Cars a call and pick Richard or Fernando's brains for a second. Just give them the down and dirty and they will give you an answer. Great guys and they might have a different conclusion. They have also supported several Fcar race teams and are board sponsors.
Two of the nicest guys you could talk to and NO it doesn't matter that you wont take your car to them for service!
