Killed me again with those pics. My Siddons skirts were actually carbon but the weave was less than desirable hence painted over. Kicking myself now after seeing your pix.

458 Spider, no not a choice for me, preferred the Scud on a test drive to the 458 coupe so I guess I will prefer my 16M to the new 458 Spider. I'm not a flipper so only buy cars I really think I will want to keep. 16M is a keeper.

Thanks to Russ to pointed me to a source selling an excellent condition Scuderia carbon fibre intake plenum. Should be delivered by the first week of the new year at the latest. Thanks again Russ!

The carbon plate for the expansion tank is next.

    You are welcome.

You will need a replacement expansion tank to go with the carbon plate as the standard version doesn't have mounting brackets.

Yes. The new tank is cheap as chips. But I'm toying with the idea of designing my own mounting bracket so I won't have to buy and install a new one which may involve flushing the fluids and all.

flushing the fluids is not such a big job, I did it on my CS and 430 Spider to Chrome the header tanks, just make sure the engine is cold !

Ok. I'll try that. So how do I flush the expansion tank and what fluid should I replace it with?

OK, need some advice. What are the implications on safety if I were to wrap a red airbag with black alcantara? Would it obstruct the activation of the airbag?

I would guess so unless it's done by someone who truly understands how it's supposed to be done. I presume such covers are factory installed with an inherent weakness in a certain area so that the bag deploys in a predefined way.

Perhaps the wheel could be sent back to original manufacturer with the cloth? Maybe a more cost effective way would be to have the current covering re-dyed to match as best as possible?

    Better safe than sorry!

I have a contact who can re dye the airbag cover material to match the steering wheel grip. Not cheap though so I wanted to try out other options.

Thanks for the tip. I might just take the re-dye option.

Back to the expansion tank project. I'm missing the screws that hold the carbon face plate down to the Scuderia expansion tank. I've checked the diagram on eurospares but can't seem to locate the part number for the screws. Can someone please shed some light on this seemingly mediocre issue?

Ferrari Scuderia 430 factory carbon intake plenum on route to me from UK. Woo hoo! Can't wait! Thanks to Russ for the headsup. Love this guy.

The carbon plate for the expansion tank arrived last week. There is some slight cloudiness in the clear coat on the carbon so I'm going to try to wet sand it down and lay on a couple of tuff coats to keep it pretty for years to come.

Next up, carbon door cards and perhaps a carbon center console.

Trouble is, the center consoles that I can get my hands on at an affordable price are all for LHD configuration. I'm fine with the transmission control being closer to the passenger side since the design of the reverse button is aimed towards the driver. But the handbrake will be the biggest problem. I'm not going to have the handbrake on the passenger side...no way! Will do a bit more research and if it turns out to be too big a installation nightmare, I'll toss that idea. Besides, I've still got the extinguisher waiting to be fitted.

    Happy New Year folks!
