I know that's quite a few years old. I saw that on TV--I think it's in Monaco--and he skid off into that store front.

I had to replay that video. What I was seeing instead was that left hand column of girls and where they are from! Can't be true, no way.

That's just advertisement. They use your ISP addy to make you think that they are local girls. Just good old fashion bait and switch.

That sucks because it really plays at your sense of "well they have to be from somewhere, they could be here!"

I was really worried for a second that the man who got hit went under the car, I'm glad it looks like he fell to the side. How about not standing there next time, buddy.

Repost from a long time ago. Learning about the lack of ABS in the F50 the hard way.

I had seen this video years ago, but couldn't find it again on my computer. Anybody have more info on this event? Seems like an inexperienced driver, with too much machine on his hands.
Locks up the brakes, but look how much he keeps turnning the wheel as the car plows straight! Reduce brake pressure, less steering angle, and he could have probably continued on course with a minor scare.

I seem to recall somebody saying a part failed on the car, and the driver had no control. I don't remember if it was steering or brakes, but it's odd that the car doesn't slow at all. I looked at the video and it looks like the rear wheels are still turning as he goes over the stairway. If you were to lock up all four wheels the car should have stopped or at least slowed. Seconds before in a previous turn the car did that just fine at what appears to be the same speed....so what could have changed? Perhaps some coolant or oil on the track from a previous car?

Agreed. Looks too slow to be a lock up/understeer incident in the dry. Is the road wet though?

If you look at the pavement, it looks dark and a little shiny. Seems to be wet IMO. Also, most of the people standing around are wearing jackets, with the hood on their head. So maybe it was slightly drizzling, or rained earlier.
Also, it seems as though a part may have failed in the steering system. Looking very closely at the outside camera view, the front left tire appears to remain straight after the last turn, and while plowing towards the pedestrian and drop off. Hard to tell, but also seems the tire is locked up. Then from in the in-car view, it's obvious the driver was cranking the wheel to the right, and kept trying to turn as the car went off course.
So maybe the steering rack or colum failed, or a tie rod came loose, and the driver had no control of direction. Not much to do in that case.

This incident was on TV years ago. The reporter talked to the guy and apparently it was only the 2nd time driving the car. If you look at the movie in slow-motion, it simply looks like he jammed the brake AND gas pedals at the same time... rather than the clutch and brake. A simple mistake like that, plus the lack of fimiliarity with the car/lack of driving skill, combined with the fact that it looks like his reaction time sucks, equals a totaled supercar.

it looks like it just stalled or something, but you can see him turning the wheel and its still going straight...weird
