Okay - as some of you may have figured out, I'm very interested in Sheehan's ex Mike Tyson F50. I can't find any real world info regarding recent sales of F50's anywhere I have looked.
Sheehan's car has relatively low mileage and fairly well documented ownership trail. There have been some rumors regarding damage to the car at some point but no hard corroborated facts.
There is extensive documentation regarding service history and the car is presently in Atlanta, having been sold to a collector there by Sheehan earlier this year. I know many collectors and the reasons they sell don't concern me too much other than if the car has major issues.
Sheehan wants $750K for the car. I think that's too much. Between $600k and $650k is where I could feel oaky for an F50 in today's market.
Does anyone out there have any real data regarding pricing of F50's, US or otherwise. If I do go ahead I will also need an experienced shop to do the PPI in Atlanta. I'm sure that the fine Fchatters in Georgia can recommend someone.

I'm sure the answer to your question will vary depending on who's buying and who's selling! Good luck finding a definitive answer on THAT one!

The US model F50 is worth significantly more than the Euro counterpart. The US cars are all 1995 and due to the skewed supply/demand that results, the US cars bring a lot more money. The Euro cars can vary in price depending upon whether it is Euro tax paid or not. Non tax paid cars for export are cheapest. Importation to the US would only be applicable to 1995 cars, probably at great expense, trouble and difficulty. To get an idea of Euro asking prices see:

The ex-Tyson car (in the photo's at least) is missing the luggage rack in the front, and the fitted luggage. There is no mention of all the F50 "extra goodies" being with the car.
It should have factory books, vehicle origin certificate, luggage, tools, hard-top & case), production photo's, special owners brochure, driving boots, temporary soft top. Ideally it should have all service records included.
An inspection should indicate all recalls are done (engine main seal esp) and all the electronic dash functions work. It is easy to pick any paint touch ups on F50's (and F40's). The matting is visible under the paint, and any painting fills up the matting, making the surface texture irregular. Any total colour changes or accident history is a bad thing and the car is best avoided.

I haven't seen a US car at auction for a while; but the value guides I have say $750k US would be the absolute upper range for an as new sub-4000mile
perfect one owner car, with all the extra goodies. I would guess that $600k US is probably wholesale for a reasonable US model?

Thanks for the comprehensive analysis. It really helps me understand what makes the US models appraise higher than Euro models. I'm certain none of the extras are included with Sheehan's car but I will ask anyway.

I would think $750k is way up there for F50 now. Last I had heard some good cars changed hands in the $650k range. A few years ago when F50 was in great demands, I know a few cars traded @ $750k range. I will check with my broker to see what some prices of recent sales.

There is an ex-Rod Stewart F50 at House of Cars in Dubai, ask price (in Dhiram) is 1.9 million, at 3.6 Dhiram per US$, around $527,000.00. That is ask and the car has been here forever, so you could probably get a lot off.

Is there not a huge problem getting them into the US?

The F50's MSRP in 1995 was $477,900 (or some figure close to that). I'm not sure if Ferrari's mandated two year lease program on the F50 ensured that everyone paid the same price though.

Sheehan wrote something a little over a year ago claiming that "an under–1,000-mile, well–documented and properly serviced U.S.–model F50 will easily bring $675,000."

    http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_200402.shtml

On a side note Alex - I would be willing to deliver the F50 at the AutoGallery to you for free if you are interested in purchasing it. I promise to keep my eyes on the road at all times, I'll keep the speed below 200mph, and I won't stop in Palm Springs on the way out to pick up rich, older women. Heck, I'll even pay for the gas. :D

If it isn't a perfect car at that price, wait until another comes along that is.
I don't know what colour the Tyson car was when it left the factory; but if it was Giallo and it's now rosso, I would give it a miss. I also heard an unsubstantiated rumour of a crashed Giallo car that was repainted Rosso in an effort to hide it's identity. However, I don't know if it was a US or Euro car. You also can't buy most (if any) of the extra's that were included new, so if they are not there the price would need to be reduced. Again, I would probably wait for the right car that had them.

Autogallery say their F50 is sold already, otherwise I'd consider hiring you to drive it down to the beach (I hate the 101 at rush hour -3am to 11.45pm)

Perhaps I missed some info in a different thread, but is the purported Tyson F50 Giallo or Rosso? I had assumed we were talking about his Giallo former car, but someone mentioned Rosso so I figured I should ask...

That's a shame. It was apparently a very good car and it really looked great. (but what F50 doesn't look great?)

Were you able to find out what they sold it for to help in your own quest?

BTW: I totally agree with the statement 360C made so I will quote it again for reinforcement:

"If it isn't a perfect car at that price, wait until another comes along that is."

    Alex,

Sorry that the F50 we had here was sold...I guess I didn't get you in touch with the broker in time. If it helps, I can tell you that the car went for $650k.
