Yep it is the F50 that did Gumball in Joe Macari livery. Reg plate is 7OY (TOY) and having heard it in the Gumball garages prior to the race, I can safely say that is one phenomenal car
I shipped a Merc in 2000 from San Francisco to London - price around $10k. Same when it was flown from Copenhagen to S.F. in the first place.
On the 11th April 2006 I airfreighted two historic Ferraris from Chicago (#4251 SA) and New York (#1449 SA) to Zurich, Switzerland. Each cost US$ 25'000 (twenty five thousand). With Air France and with Singapore Airlines. Marcel Massini
I had no idea a passenger 747 could store a car on it, thats cool! Talk about a good answer when they asking if you would be checking in any luggage.
Thats awesome! There were a lot of English cars in the Gumball this year so I wonder how many cars got flown back like this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes i had the pleasure of doing somth like that. Back in 1992 i bought a 348TB and flew it to India - Bombay on the same filght that i was travelling on. Tell u what it was cool when they say 'u checking in anything else? and i said yes' A ferrari ' he he he he.
No, not related to the value. And insurance is not included. Here is a photo of 0234 AL (Ferrari 342 America Cabriolet Pinin Farina ex-King Leopold of Belgium) I airfreighted on 18th April 2002 from Chicago to Frankfurt/Germany, with a Lufthansa Cargo 747. Picture taken at 1 a.m. in the morning at Frankfurt airport. COPYRIGHT MARCEL MASSINI Image Unavailable, Please Login
very cool picture Marcel! i think it would be cool to pull up to curbside luggage check and get out, put your bag on the guy's cart and ask, "where should i park the car to be put on the plane?" i am guessing the airlines require the fuel tank to be empty?
Absolutely totally empty. Everything. No fluids at all. Battery must be disconnected too. And if you have a spray dose (wax, polish, etc.) in the trunk they will not fly the car. VERY serious. A friend's 250 GT Lusso was flown in a 747 from Frankfurt to LAX and somewhere over Scotland smell of fuel was realized in the plane. It had to return to Frankfurt immediately. Total cost for the troubles, delay, etc. was about US$ 150'000. The gas tank hadn't been totally emptied by the people who prepared the car. Insurance case. Marcel Massini
Holy oldthreadgiggingup Batman! I can say I was at the Miller Motorsports Park stop of this particular Gumball and that F50 sounded incredible being flogged around the track!
