which one would you rather own?
It's a tough choice for me between the F1 LM and the F50 GT. Probably my two favorite cars. I would probaby take the LM because it seats 3 people (vs. 1 in the F50 GT) and can be used on the streets in the US.
F50 GT then F1 then FXX I actually like the looks of the regular F50 (if any F50 can be called "regular") better than the F50 GT.
I'll take the F1 LM - for people who know me, that shouldn't come as a surprise. I do love the F50 GT - however I think it lacks some crediblity for never being officially driven in anger. Ferrari was foolish not to race that car regardless of the excuse. >8^) ER
With the 3 seater Mclaren..... any female passengers can't help but drape their long slender legs tantalisingly close to the drivers hands.. And the two internal rear view mirrors can be set carefully to show nothing but the sourse of those long slender legs.....
what about the fact that the FXX is worthless if ur not on a track? the F50 is the same deal, so by that rationale, i think the Mclaren is the one to pic here.
IMO there two types of cars existant. Those that have won Le Mans, the FIA MFG. Cup, Can Am or other major sportscar championship and those that haven't.
kit car?......what are you smoking? and you'd make more sense if you said something like McLarenBMW.........now take notes.. "In 1995, McLaren debuted the F1 GTR at the Le Mans endurance race. The McLaren took first place, taking it's place in history as doing so on it's first race. In addition to taking the checkered flag, the F1 GTR also took 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th places in that race. To celebrate this extraordinary achievement, McLaren produced five F1 LMs, one for each of the F1 GTRs that finished the 1995 Le Mans race, with the goal being that the LM was a 1995 F1 GTR modified as little as possible to make it a street legal supercar. Consequently the F1 LM sported a more powerful 680 bhp V12, and now owns the 0-100-0 mph world record for a production car by ripping through the tach in a gut wrenching 11.5 seconds while travelling a distance of only 828.4 feet! The final version of the F1 production car was the F1 GT. It was designed to attain downforce equal to that of the LM, but to do so with lower drag. Thus, the front bodywork was extended and the rear deck was redesigned to create a stunning, yet functional, new look. Several racing versions of the McLaren were produced, including the highly successful 1995 F1 GTR, the 1996 F1 GTR, and the 1997 F1 GTR. " learn something new every day, huh?.......i bet now you're saying to yourself," how could I have insulted such a beautiful & successfull supercar by calling it a kit car!".....
McLaren F1. I guess it's by far the most reliable of the bunch, the sexiest, the sleekest etc, though unlike what you say guys, the McLaren is a one seater as well... aaaaaaaaaarghhhhh
take more notes... Thus the LM runs the most powerful engine of any F1, road or race, by using an 1995 GTR engine without the air restrictors. It also features the race car aerodynamics, gearbox and 18" inch wheels. As a tribute to the memory of Bruce McLaren, all the F1 LM's were painted in the same Papaya Orange that was used on his contemporary Formula One and Can Am cars. Inside the LM, the driver sits in an all carbon fibre race seat, and the passenger seats are moulded into the moncoque. With minimal trim, the interior carbon is beautifully finished in high gloss lacquer. With 680 bhp and weighing some 60kg less than the F1 road car, the F1 LM is the fastest accelerating F1 of all. For me the LM is still the epitome of sports cars. Ok, pilot seat access is not perfect, but the looks is such a perfect mix between aggressivity and beauty.
LM= sex on wheel.. f50-gt= more rare than fxx.. fxx= whats the poitn of this car? not for racing, and not for road use.
I just dont like the concept of having someone else design your engine seperate to the company who concepted the original plan. The original road car may have been foundered by a man with a dream.. but I prefer 45 years of gleaming motor sports heritage. Everyone has opinions this is mine.
