Ok got it... recording sound for a video game??
Yes, it was confirmed to be in PGR3. I guessed it on the dev company's own website within about 5 seconds. lol. "One car from Italy that only three real-life versions exist and pumps out 10,000 RPMs." Me: "The rare Italian car mentioned is the F50 GT1. There are three and it has a redline of 10,500rpm. Yes, I did that in my head in about ten seconds. Kinda scary, huh? "
Talked to Art's son at the dealer, and he said that it was going to be featured in a video game, so probably getting sounds and dynamics
I've been gone for the last week and have some stuff to say. Earlier in the topic I said it was for a reason to be kept secret, and now everyone totally disobeyed that, and to be honest, I'm kinda dissapointed. I can't show anyone the video, and that's final. I'm probably in pretty deep **** now.
But what about the people that have already downloaded the vid, what's to stop them from making it available on the net? Not sure anyone can do anything about it anymore.
You shouldn't be disappointed... you posted it on the net for the world to see. And far more people will get to appreciate the car now than the few that ever look at video games. Good work. Thank god for the internet.
Well I hope you don't get in trouble. After all you did take it down the very moment they asked you to. Plus it's not like you are giving away the secret dyno test to some brand new F1 engine, along with the figures.
Knowing the ex-owner of 003, a kinda suspect he would have minded A LOT. Remember that little kidnapping incident in the local club a few years back?
I was told by someone on another forum when my thread linking to the videos was requested to be removed. The next person flat out guessed. The person after that got his info from the development website of the game. The final person got his info from the car owner's son. Seriously now, I don't see what you have to be disappointed about. Its not like you told any of these people the reason in confidence and they betrayed you. This is the internet afterall, and the truth is out there ...so are your videos now too. You've got to think these things through and get the proper permission prior to sharing your stories and videos. Otherwise you have no right to be upset, and if bad decisions get you in trouble, you only have yourself to blame. I don't see the harm in the videos being shared. I also don't believe this business was ignorant to the fact that your videos were being made, so that should have been their clue to tell you what you could and could not do with them. It sounds to me like after the fact someone who was not involved, or who did not provide clear instructions prior to the testing, got mad and is making an issue out of things, and that is frankly a bit ridiculous in my opinion. We're all enthusiasts here, and are all excited to see some awesome content of an amazingly rare Ferrari that most of us will never have the opportunity to see in person. Where's the harm, really? >8^) ER
err 360C Knowing who the owner is, is not the same as letting someone see the car on the net. 003 was in the SHOWROOM and on the web for a year or so, so whether people see it there or in the car park being cleaned is irrelevant. People do ask "who owns it?" far too often. But really, there are very few well known people with them, so the question gets dodged or BS'd. The guys that looked at 003 when I was cleaning it didn't even ask who owned it, they just drooled over the car, and even when they finally left, they came back twice! They must have asked about 20 unfinished questions...."How fa.., what is..., What's tha...., can I.... But...?" They loved it, and if the owner had seen their reaction, he would have loved it too. You should see the snot and drool sliding down the showroom windows from kids looking at the 2x F50's, Enzo, F40, Mclaren in there at the moment....
Fine in theory; but in practise you know VERY well that the information discussed doesn't stop with the car. After 30yrs around Ferraris I know that people have just as much interest in the personal information of the owner and those that should know better are normally more than happy to indulge the punters probing questioning. There have been many problems in the past as a result, and I am sure that there will be many more in the future if people don't learn to draw the line at personal information.......
You're paranoid. And your personal profile lists your cars and your IRL is traceable! The Ferrari owners club register is published regularly and you appear in it!! Chill out. Unless you're famous people don't care... the blank looks on their faces if they do get told who owns these cars shows what a dumb question it was. They just want to hear.. "oh, this ones is Shane warne's, and that one is Mark Phillipoussis', and that one is LLeyton Hewitt's and that one was raced by Sam Newman etc..... They don't care about the chemical distributor from Dandenong or the sand pit owner from skye or the dot com bloke from wup wup... really, they don't. Relax, your secrets are as safe as Ferrari club and forum participants secrets ever are...!!
I really wonder about you sometimes. It's not about me, though I have been annoyed by rumour and general bull**** originating from Richmond many times. Obviously I choose to be here! The guy who was kidnapped and beaten to within an inch of his life was't famous. It wouldn't have ever happened if it wasn't for the association with the Ferrari club- FACT. I kinda reckon he might not agree with you!!
I don't know how you got to here, but you're making a lot of assumptions. The kidnap was before my time, so I don't know much about it and can't really comment. Suffice to say that if you're right then it's been gong on a long time.
i think the mojority of people who like to ask extra to even an extent of personal questions about exotic cars and their owners are just curious, wanted to feed their hunger for knowing a little bit more of the these cars so they can brag about it to their mates. however, i think there will always be a little minority that may potentially coz some trouble. having said that, its only a minority, doesn't reflect to people in general. so 360C, don't worry about other people will do potential harm to you, so long as you don't wave about your address and what you do every minute of the day publicly, you'll be fine mate!
I have one thing to say if a person knows enough about Ferrari's then they will also know there were only three F50GT1's made, so if you really think about it it obviously was not #002 because it has never left Japan rotting away sadly enough because it never goes anywhere. It probably is not #003 because if I am right then it is in Europe somewhere. So that only leaves #001 and that would be the one on the dyno. #001 is owned by (insert name here) who also happens to own Ferrari of Silicon Valley. So if they really wanted to find him all they would have to do is use a web search and they could easily find him so I don't see what the huge problem is.
HA! that's just a poster. one of the guys at the shop gave me one of those. it's just the picture on one side, and the stats on the other. there was a whole stack at the shop. what a joke!
