nice article. sounds like a fun trip.

trips in iconic supercars are always fraught with excitement and concern. you are delighted to be driving the beast, but constantly worried about being hit, narrow spots, speeding tickets etc.

It all depends on your mindset. If you are too neurotic to drive them, there is no point in having them. I've done cross country road trips in everything from a 308 to an F40. The memories alone are worth it, and I've never been hit, robbed or harassed.

That's great, thanks for sharing with us!

Loved your response to your son!

Of course, he can get any car he wants if he simply gets a "huge ass loan"

Likewise. I have also done multiple trips in the F40 and never had any issues. Great memories.

Enjoyed your story! Well written with nice details.

If you get attention with a "regular phrary", it must be through the roof with an F50. Reactions from everyone, including the most ignorant people that don't even care about cars.

Yes. SecretSuperCarOwner on EVO. Shame he has stopped writing there. A great read! Thank you @Boxer365

I think the car now belongs to somebody here and he also uses it like it was intended. Good to see one of these cars actually living a proper life.

Thanks, & yes, one and the same. Stopped writing for EVO about a year ago.

That is Sintra in the background. Great driving roads along the coast.

Believe the car is now in Henley-the-Thames.

Yeah, I enjoyed reading your stories in the magazine, great to hear from someone that actually lives with the cars on a daily basis, not just borrow one for a review and get a slightly skewed, for better or worse, view of a car. I’m a great believer in using the cars, although I’d never let anyone know the reg numbers of the couple I took on the gumball!

The best are up the mountains any wrong right or left and a dream winding road unfolds.

P.S. Is that your new site?

If memory is correct, the road form Sintra around the mountain to Guincho was spectacular.

On the site, yes http://karenable.com is my new site.

I've never had an opportunity (yet) to do any in a Ferrari, but many (U.S.) cross country road trips with variety of vintage cars from 1930s to 1970s. While some have included major mechanical failures and other issues requiring costly and time sensitive delays, all have been "great adventures" definitely worth the effort and providing amazing memories. I'm hoping someday to have enough time to write them all down in to a book (or two).

Outstanding! My favorite Ferrari road car actually being driven some distance. I did two epic trips in my 456M, both over 4K miles, and that's what I live for.

Currently preparing my 360 for an adventure.

    Thanks for sharing!
