You think, maybe, he lurks here, saw a picture of my chest and just HAD to have something like it...? There's a really good reason why i've never seen an F50 "in the wild"... Because if that was me that spotted that obscenely beautiful Ferrari in some run of the mill parking lot, i would've flipped out... i would've started screaming and jumping around, complete with flailing limbs and little school girl shriek...
just curious, how do some of you guys know the s/n just by looking at a picture of it? this question doesnt just pretain to this car, i mean in general
I'm sure they referenced my acknowledgement that it was Petrick's car F/S at West Coast Motorsports (euro, clear markers, Sarasota thus pretty evident) with one of the listings for it on the internet and grabbed the VIN...
Well, i have a fairly comprehensive registry of F50's that i've put together (with some help from some other people as well ) and so i know the plate. I also know that Gerd Petrik is the only person in that area with a Euro spec F50
Man, Petrik's car collection is so cool. I always look for his cars at shows in the area (Ferraris at St. Armands, St Pete FOS, etc). I'll never forget when I saw a train of his cars coming down US41- a red Diablo followed by the F50, then 10 seconds later the Porsche GT1 and the Mercedes CLK-GTR. Oh and that time he pulled up next to me at a light in the Saleen S7... Is that silver Bugatti EB110SS his as well? I used to see that car all the time around here.
I was coming home from Tampa one day on I-75 when that very F50 blew right by me, followed by this CLK-GTR you're talking about - pretty sure it was silver. I had to do a double take because, as rare as the F50 is, you NEVER, EVER see CLK-GTRs tooling down the highway. I'm off the beaten path near Tara now, so I never really get to SRQ as much anymore. When I used to live down near Palmer Ranch, I used to see this blond, curly-haired guy driving around in all kinds of wild cars. I'm guessing this is the same fella. RMX
Bwahahahaha....this I'd like to see. I don't freak out when I see cars like this anymore. I mean I used to when I was a kid, but now I just kind of nod in appreciation and respect and think, "hmmm, nice." I told my fiancee to "pull it over" so I could get a shot or two for the FChat board (always doing my duty, ya know). I keep it all bottled up for now. You'll see me flip out when I finally buy an FCar of my own. I'll pop my cork then. Haha. RMX
Yeah, I think that's him. Or maybe his son/son in law, who I've seen driving that split-pea green BMW Z1- the one with the roll down doors. That's a cool little car! Is there a list of all the cars in Petrik's collection? I've heard he has around 40 cars, but I can only name about 10.
I livein St Pete and we had a exotic car sho here in the Vinoy park 2 years ago.The Vinoy is a 5 star hotel on the water and all the car owners stayed there that weekend.I just sat at the valet and watched everything come through.Gerd came in in the CLK GTR being followed by his wife in the F50.It was amazing to see a man of his heith fold out of the CLk GTR...those doors are tiney. It was even better seeingt the valet kid get in try to figure out how to get the thing to move, especially with a group of 50 people watching his every move. The kid parked the car out of view and when Gerd came back outside to where the car was he almost flipped out to see it wasnt up front with all the others.I gladly called him by his name Mr.Petrick and said your car is over here, around the corner. He was very polit and very happy to speak about his cars.I said I have a detailing co. that specializes in high end cars and to get his account would be a dream come true.He said he had a full time crew on his premises that take care of all the cars but if he had any problems,he would call me.His wife was hot and even looked better climbing out of the F50 right behind the CLK GTR.I guess he had his boys drive over the Porsche GT1 and Saleen S7.His collection has to be the largest on the east coast. He also has 2 Mclaren F1.Rumor has it he ordered 2 just to make sure he got one and they both came through. He also has Lambos 355s testarossa convert.I actually went to his house on the water in Sarasota....the man has a life style that only a handful have.Must be nice. His F50 is in the Dupont for 650K by the way.
