Just saw a CGT today, sweet which would you rather have ? I'd take both but realistically the CGT costs 50% of the F50 & is probably a much better more comfortable & faster car
this is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard. after getting a ride in a CGT (which has been the best experience of my LIFE so far), and having this undying love for the F50. The F50 is soooo beautiful in person (even more than in pictures). The CGT is soooo beautiful too, inside and outside. I guess I would have to have a ride in an F50 to determine this. So far they are both equal just because i have not had a ride in an F50.
I would have to go with the CGT. I've seen both but have only been able to sit in the CGT. No rides in either. While the F50 is beautiful, I think the CGT is better looking. Sure it doesnt have a V12 but neither does the F40. Good question though. Its a hard one.
Thomas voted CGT... i dn... the F50 is fast and nice but theres just something about it that rubs thomas the wrong way.... hes not sayin he wouldn't own one... but he would probably buy a CGT if he had the money to do so. -Thomas
Oh man. The F50 is my #1 favorite car and the Carrera GT is my #2. They are both gorgeous and sexy but I'll admit the Carrera GT is slightly better looking. Also, like you said it's probably more comfortable. They both have amazing engine sounds too. I'd have to take the F50 just because it's been my favorite car for years. It'd also be more rare and it's a Ferrari ... those aren't really reasons that I'd pick it over the Carrera GT but they're nice bonuses.
Though the CGT would clearly out-perform the F50, i still have to go with the F50... Before the 360 Spider and the Enzo, it was my favorite car... It's still up there though... Ferrari for life...
The only thing that can come close to the sound of an F50's V12 at high RPMs is the sound of the CGT's V10 at those same high RPMs. Both cars sound simply incredible. Because of the price difference I'd choose the CGT, but if prices were equal I would prefer to own an F50. If price doesn't matter to you (congrats ) then take the F50. >8^) ER
CGT all the way. the sound is out of this world, and its performance is simply biblical. I've seen both the F50 and enzo in person, and both cars are dissappointly unattractive and undesirable in my opinion. Not the usual elegance and sexiness of a ferrari. Now if i had to choose between the CGT and the F40, it be so much harder to decide.
Guys, there is a bigger problem at hand... Two well respected sources from another board have stated emphatically that when it comes to performance, the F50 is disappointing. They even went as far as to say that an F430 and Murcielago would take it without a problem. And it's not just an issue of power really, but that the handling is OK and not AMAZING. Hard to believe when you look on paper and figure it's a successor to the F40. These two gentlemen have DRIVEN the f50, hence the only reason I would put up with it. ;-) Honestly, where does the F50 stack up, handling wise to other cars. Forget CGT, Enzo, etc....compare to the 911, Lamborghini, and road car Ferrari line up. Who here has driven/ridden/seen it in action?? Don't want pro-F50 comments for the sake of it. Want facts. Thanks!
I dont like the F50 much at all. Ill take the carerra GT for sure... crap, id rather have a the following ferrrais over the F50 Enzo F40 288 GTO 360CS F430 512M 512TR what am i missing? but ill take a saleen S7 TT over any of them
Im not too sure, I mean both are hella good cars, ive only sat in a beautiful red CGT (see profile) and just the atmosphere around the car is amazing, Ive yet to see a F50, but I cannot even imagine what I would do if in the presence of one.... Based on just how I can imagine driving each car, the sounds and the tops off....F50 for me!
What board was this from, l4mb0-p0w3r.com? (edit: ha! I just realized that it changes to *** automatically) That's implying that the F40 has amazing handling and performance (and I agree, it does). But I've read several times that the F50 would clearly beat an F40 around the track.
Because of the money I would go with the Carrera GT. I went to the Interlomas dealer today here in Mexico to check one out, only 5 coming to the country and they are all sold. This one was red, not so nice as the black, silver or yellow, but still a pretty amazing car. The first one I saw & heard was in Milano back some time ago, when he noticed that I was checking his car out, he push it and WOW what a sound, it was a shame we were on Via Monte Napoleone, and he couldn't do it for long, then I saw him where I was staying, and the guys from the store in front of the Hotel (Brioni) knew the guy, and they told me it was the first CGT in Italy at that time. But without the money factor I think the F50 would do it for me. A test drive on both would help me haha.
err, you saw an F50 beat an F40 at the track day in Perth... and at the Calder track day, the F50 was giving rides for fun, and was just about to be entered in a concourse event... hardly top lap times to be expected..... same driver, same (type of) tyres, same day... F50 is faster... might not feel it, but it is. Might be some tracks where difference is hard to tell, but overall, F50 is faster than F40 F50 or CGT.... Are we forgetting one is a Porsche... if the question was which is better... then easy...CGT But Porsches are not Ferraris.
