Sometimes I think Ferrari should offer driving lessons for first time purchasers , but then again, they make so many cars now, they might as well be Toyota, who cares if a few of them get destroyed, it gives the other owners a bigger selection of used parts. God knows with Ferraris crappy build quality, theyre going to need them. All you F8 . 488 owners should find out where that crashed car is located and start putting dibs on all the spare parts so you can stock pile them up in your garages. Looks like you can use the entire back half of the car, motor and trans included, as well as the exhaust system ,. half shafts, shocks , wheels and whatever else.

hum, someone needs to spend time on YouTube studying the interminable parade of mustangs exiting cars and coffees and having the exact same mishap...it's a phenomenon, a real meme

Hint in the report is that driver has a couple of lambo, ostensibly AWD, maybe wasn't used to good old RWD and likely was in race or ESC off

    Inexperience and overcorrection of such.

Nothing to do with traction control or assists. Internet is full of burnouts/roll-ons to 90degree shoulder-dives and end-swapping.

Nothing to do with it save for the fact that it's pretty tough to wreck like that will full assists on...

That seems to be the consensus, in which case his insurance company should rightly take a very close look at the videos and presumably the telemetry/data log before paying for a replacement.

Not that I'm in the market for a massively powerful vehicle but crashes like this certainly don't help to lower insurance premiums for anybody.
Or make similar car gatherings any easier to put together.

I have driven pretty much every modern production supercar from Ferrari, Mclaren, Lambo, etc, as well as owning my own.

I was lucky/unlucky to learn to drive in the era of no TC.

I can see what happened in these cases of the F8/812. It’s multifactorial. Driver maybe not used to a very powerful RWD car (maybe they drove Lambos or 911TT before) boots it. Factor one. Turbo engine in F8, and monster power in 812, kicks in. Even in race mode, on an uneven surface, or when one wheel has better traction than another, you get a definite wriggle - not hard to do. Factor two.

In pre TC times, there were many ways to go downhill from here, including but not limited to lifting off throttle or staying on throttle. But now, a driver not used to these things may feel comforted by the TCs, keeping foot on the pedal, even while experiencing slight sideways. factor three.

He (it’s always a he) then thinks wow what’s going on, and jerks steering around. But modern Ferraris have steering that is both super fast and super light - in the 296 it’s insane. So, he overcompensates, while also having no idea where the wheels are actually pointing due to inexperience and no feel in the steering. Factor four. The car, going ever faster, shoots off road.

In the same situation in a Huracan or 911TT, as the driver continues to accelerate, he is rescued by the 4WD which shifts power to the front, and pulls him back in the direction he is aimed in m. Not in these RWD Ferraris.

I can’t be sure what happened in these cases but I’m imagining that’s what it was. You see single vehicle Ferrari crashes in Dubai where it looks like the same factors.

    seriously....
i have a 360 gated and that car has more power than anyone needs....and the newer F cars have double the HP what my car has...Incidents like this are common place with that much power and idiots behind the wheel....

I think 400 to 500 HP for a sports car is just enough for any application . You can have a lot of fun, and clown around with room to spare. My friends 08 twin turbo has 500 HP and will pin you in your seat, its more than enough to be honest. I mean I have a lot of fun in my 328 with the 270 HP, if it had 300 to 350, I dont think I would ever need another car with more HP . I would love a Gallardo with the 500 it comes with to add to the stable, I would love a 458 or 488, but all that power is not what I would buy it for, it would be it for the reason I would by any Ferrari, they have and always will be the sexiest, best looking cars in the world, I really dont care about the power, I love the looks , its that simple. To me it does not make sense to build a car with all that power, and then outfit it with nannys to keep you from crashing, somehow its kind of stupid . Whats the point ?? Pray tell...

I would have to say, in a 488 , F8, 458, I would get such a thrill when shifting gears either up or down close to the red line with the sound of that motor, I mean, I would never really think about doing burnouts , that sound would be ecstasy as far as Im concerned. This dude would have made such a better showing if he did just that, people would trip out, and he would not have destroyed his car. FERRARI = looks + sound, that is what is impressive , not a burnout . Burnouts are more suited to American Muscle machines, not Ferraris, wouldnt you agree ??

100% agree and this is exactly what I do... I never got the idea of spinning tires and costing myself money in tires and it just looks like a punk ass type of thing to do.... high RPM's and driving safely is what I do.... and no matter what people say, the F8 sounds quite amazing at high RPM's; plenty of thrill.

    better video, including the aftermath.
If link doesn't take you to the right part of vid it starts at 17:40.
Looks like there is a wheelchair next to the car, so apparently does (did) have hand controls.

    No!
Ferrari = speed, driving pleasure, fun, powerslides!
Ferrari, I believe, is one of the few brands that pay attention to how the car drifts. they are very light and comfortable in powersliding. Check out what Powerslidelover is doing on Instagram. if you don't drive fast and slide your Ferrari, you're getting less than half what you paid for.
I always drive my ECU-tuned 488 in esc off and this is the best experience.

I can agree with you, but most unlike yourself, and myself, dont have a clue how to do that, keep in mind, a power slide is not a burnout, this prick was trying to do a rolling burnout in a car he had no business even sitting in, let alone driving.

I like to say f’ed up things for amusement but wow, that was rough Gino [emoji23] I’d like to think that if I ever lost the use of my legs, that I’d still be able to drive and own a Ferrari. I think it would be even more devastating to my mind that I’d have to get demoted to a Prius than the actual loss of my legs.
