Hello everyone, My F8 spider will be delivered to me in Switzerland in a couple of weeks and I still haven't found a homologated exhaust system for EU, let alone for Switzerland..! Is there any?
What is a homologated exhaust? There is the cars stock exhaust then there is aftermarket exhaust from various companies like Fabspeed, Kline, Novitec, FI, IPE, Ryft, Top Speed and many more for the car
To change wheels or exhaust in much of Europe it has to be homologated by the component manufacturer for the specific vehicle and it is illegal to fit otherwise so for example Novitec don't say their exhausts are TUV approved as far as I can see but lots of their dealers say they are so that might be a starting point for OP eg https://project85automotive.com/product/sport-exhaust-ferrari-f8-tributo-novitec/ (OK not spider but its close !)
Indeed most aftermarket exhausts are not road legal in Europe (that includes tubi style and capristo ). Apparently Akrapovic has only one model approved for the 458 and one for the 488, all others being not road legal.
I have spoken with Capristo, Novitec, Akrapovic, IPE, noone is even planning to do something...Noone in Europe has found a solution? You (EU) guys, all drive your F8s stock?
https://www.fabspeed.com/ferrari-f8-tributo-rear-center-muffler-bypass-x-pipe-2020/ This is a good solution that won’t throw a CEL and should “open it up” a bit. If you do a search you can view a few videos of “before and after”.
The GPFs are part of the rear silencer, basically any upgraded rear silencer removes them - therefore not possible to homologate I think Fabspeed make some kind of crossover centre section to go in place of the silencer between the GPFs...not sure of TUV approval status etc
According to Novitec, the OPF (GPF) is located upstream of the silencer (muffler). Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's hilarious, I made that picture haha - where did you get it?? The "rear silencer" in the case of the F8 is 2 GPFs with a silencer between them. Pretty much every exhaust manufacturer treats the combination of these 3 as the rear silencer. You are technically correct that the GPFs are upstream, but for the sake of simplicity best to treat all 3 as 1. Below is the fabspeed part I mentioned in my earlier post: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you guys for your input. The car arrived, showed 340kph in the German Autobahn, but the sound is missing. I think i will go the illegal way, either with Novitec or Capristo.
