Agreed, that was my rationale for getting it. Yes, I’ve heard this as well. I just don’t want to believe the system is sophisticated enough to measure exhaust pressure changes.
Correct. Ferrari service themselves recommended Fabspeed Xpipe. Warranty is NOT voided. Agai, my net net is that it's a good option FOR NOW, until warranty expires. But after that, I'm definitely doing something about it. I've kept the iPE exhaust.
Long thread... If you go back to page 18 you'll see I posted it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/AT5YJ7jrkt3DLLAn7
Here are some videos I made today of my exhaust as requested. This is a Novitec Race Exhaust (valveless X-pipe) with Tectronic module. No GPF. As others have said, it is louder in person as the camera mic isn't ideal, but not crazy loud. Perfect for me. AUTO mode in/out of the neighborhood. ^ AD211, thank you for sharing. The car sounds great!!! In my opinion, how it should have sounded from the factory at a minimum.
^ @AD211 ... those videos are super helpful. Thank you for sharing. Your car sounds damn good! The exhaust has really transformed the car. You've got me seriously considering replicating your setup.
It could void powertrain warranty if something happened to the engine, axles, transmission and you took the car in for warranty. The dealer has to record the ECU and supply photos of the car. But if you took the exhaust off and put the stock exhaust on and took the Novitec tune out then take it to the dealer…. ;-)
According to the head service rep as of Friday last week at F Tampa. Yes. They currently have a few cars that need fix with aftermarket exhausts that Ferrari is voiding their warranties . His words not mine. If Ferrari had a half of a brain they would offer a solution and charge 10k or whatever and sell it to everyone who has an F8. What a marketing concept it would be.
Right! I did a full Capristo exhaust and ECU tune on my F8S because I didn’t want to drive around for three years with an uninspiring soundtrack. Now, the car sounds AMAZING! Everyone will make the decision that is right for them. I am willing to bite the bullet in the event something transpires. The reality is that Ferraris today are well built and big things do not generally break during the warranty period. All that being said, statistical outliers will always exist. Companies use math and analytics to establish their warranty periods. They are not altruists. Ferrari knows the mean time to failure for each component. I have no issues with Ferrari’s approach. I thank them for building rolling works of art! Buying one of these cars is all about purchasing “smiles via miles.” I wanted to smile immediately. I absolutely love the car! It is beautiful, handles like a dream, and embodies the Ferrari magic.
im with you 100%. For me the only difference is that ‘pressing need’ (to call it one way) to improve the engine note in order to really enjoy it (given that I have an F355 and a 458 as well). Still, I’ll get there eventually (probably before warranty expires fully, btw) but I don’t dislike the way the car sounds now (w Xpipe) and since it’s a 2021, I do appreciate that peace of mind I get from the warranty for another 2 years.
I think Ferrari are saying; “the days of the awesome Ferrari engine note are pretty much over. Get on board with this because soon you won’t have ANYTHING engine note wise since we’ll be electric…”
BTW, I have to say, after driving the F8T a few times since I bought it (including some chill 1hr-commutes as well pretty aggressive, always safe, mountain pass driving...), this is THE BEST FERRARI I'VE EVER DRIVEN. Ok, it may not have the drama (at least until I upgrade the exhaust) of the NAs, but other than that, I now get why so many of this chat members recommended the upgrade from the 458. It's not just the super power (which is mind blowing), but to me what makes it so special is 1) the handling / suspension, 2) gearbox, 3) steering. These three make it SO VERY SPECIAL to me. On top of this: 4) gorgeous looks 5) modern everything from electronics POV (important if you're spending time in the car, everything just works!) 6) racing seats (I always wanted them in the 458S) Ultimately, pretty close to a perfect car for me, guys. I'm so pleased...
Me neither, that's why I've invested in three models (1999, 2013 and 2021). 3 great eras for the brand! I am missing a V12, which I feel it'd also be the right investment pre-electric era... But for now I'll enjoy the V8s!
I’ve been told the same thing there too. They’ve even taken off exhaust systems or just the Capristio valve controller as the F8 valves are not like a light switch on or off.
