To my ear, inside the passenger compartment, my 22 Tributo sounds a bit more robust than a friend’s 22 Spider.

Is it possible that the sound/hot tube is different or non-existent in the Spider? Is it possible that the space used for the sound/hot tube in the Tributo, is used for the retractable hardtop and its peripherals in Spider?

Here’s the good news - my car sounds far better than I had anticipated and I have exactly zero interest in changing it. No disrespect to those that prefer a more exhaust sound.

I have the spider and have wondered the exact same question.

Would be interesting to know. Last week my Spider clocked 2k miles, during a spirited couple of hours of driving. I’m absolutely sure the car now sounds more throaty than before. Wondering if the extended high temps have played a part in this.

I have 3500 miles on my 21 spider and it still sounds like crap. I’m dumbfounded as to why Ferrari would put out a car that sounds like this. I so enjoy the beautiful sound my Porto makes. There must be a solution somewhere that won’t void the warranty.
Ps. I have the valve opener installed which makes it marginally better.

I had a F8 Tributo and now have a new F8 spider. The sound on the spider is much worse and really is just a drone that gets louder as the revs go up. The F8 Tributo sound had much more character and range. My new GTS sounds absolutely amazing throughout the range and somehow crisper than my old superfast. I was hoping to keep the F8 spider and 812 GTS as forever cars given they are the last without electric assist. The GTS is staying but I may trade in the F8 spider for a 296 spider if it sounds better. The quality of the exhaust note is more important to me then the sense of self satisfaction owning the last production non electric V8.

F8 Tributo exhaust noise gets better the more you drive it (at least I have that impression).

2000-3000 km with a few track days and a bunch of wot autobahn runs, definitely opens up any exhaust. Being it a 458, 488, F8 or 812 for that matter. Especially longer track days where the exhaust is run hot for longer periods helps.

Especially on the GPF cars the exhaust needs a good burn-in.
