Yesterday I drove an F8 from friend of mine and I heard like a pshhhh whenever passing to next gear close to the rpm limiter but always before.

Every gear from 3rd to 6th.

He did a gearbox repro to maximize gear changes etc. My friend says it’s been always there but to me has to have an explanation.

    Any ideas?

Gearbox repro? Reprogramming? Why? Makes no sense to me to do this. Great way to void his warranty.

Where did he get the gearbox repro?
Getrag , as it was formerly known, employs thousand of full-time, university educated engineers who work in teams s to develop their products. I wouldn’t hire anyone to repro unless they first trained with Getrag and have proof that they are competent to modify the software code and then verify that these modifications are an improvement and do not degrade the life of the box

Why on earth would you reprogram the gearbox. good grief. You buy an F8 and immediately think “great car but the gear shifts could be better.?? You think someone outside ferrari can do a better job?? And yes, goodbye warranty.

Look. How many 488’s reprogrammed out there? Hundreds? For what reason? Owners like it.

One more thing, do Ferrari always do best work available? Simple: no. They do best average for all markets considering all restrictions and for all kind of drivers…

Transmissions have an ECU like everything and it has software inside.

You can modify pump pressure over clutch, cut-off time, and long etc.

Our getrag gearboxes are fitted on different cars and brands and all run different softwares.

Why do you assume that F did the best work? Why do you think that so many tuners are on the field? As mentioned before, manufacturers do the best to accommodate to all local regulations and taking into account how the world is going, our cars are far away to perform to its maximum: thicker cats, particle filters, less aggressive camshafts, lower viscosity oils, gas recirculation PCV, cam phasers and sooooo many others we don’t even know.

That’s where tuners enter, to partially give back our cars what they were meant to develop.

You can't reprogram the TCU on the car. ECU yes.
I am pretty sure the OP is referring to readaptation / relearn of the transmissions.
