I was on the config today.

I am headed to McLaren to spec a future spider on Thursday.

How much do we think the spider will start at?

I think Brooks has an SF90 allocation, so we’ll probably know soon enough.

What is the purpose of the double glazed rear engine window?

Yeah we've messaged about it. Hopefully we can line things up. There are some others there that I hope to catch up with as well.

Very nice spec. I've got everything there except the carbon aero bridge, carbon rear diffuser and the port holes but I do have all 3 carbon packs. My price came in about $20K less.

You kinda get to see the engine if you look through the back window. I've heard that you might get more engine sound but I am not sure that's the case. It didnt make sense to me even for free.

You have 53k worth of carbon. What Im planning on doing with the spider is do the black pack. 18k. 32k savings. Spider wont have a double glazed window so right at 40 savings. Now if you want carbon then you are right, you have to go all out. I guess for this car Im willing to forgo carbon and just do the black pack. At the end of the day, 10-15% of the cost of the car and in the long run not a huge deal either way but if someone wanted to save and still get a kick ass car (aka Brooks) its very doable.

I have to make my way down there as well but have been talking to them about prelim spec. I would assume spider is 25k more? Not sure. we will see.

FWIW- I probably would have skipped all the carbon but spent the money on the roof scoop. Probably would have ended up somewhere close to your spec for pricing.

Eye candy. Unique, potentially iconic, feature. Other than that, no real benefit. Stupid expenditure for sure, but not much about these cars is sensible. By the end of the year, I’ll have over $2M worth of cash tied up in goofy cars (truly not trying to flex, many others on this board have $10M, $30M, or even more, tied up in cars). By any measure, my cost of maintenance/insurance/registration/gas/tires, the opportunity cost, and the depreciation cost will exceed $50,000/month. In light of that insanity, the silly window seemed like a bargain.

I’m worse than a crackhead for carbon. I did something similar on my 812.

    Interior Carbon
$7,593 - CIDL - Carbon Fiber Driver Zone + LEDS
$7,593 - DATR - Carbon Fiber Dashboard Inserts
$2,869 - CILR - Carbon Fiber Central Bridge
$2,025 - CISK - Exterior Sill Kick in Carbon
    $20,080 subtotal

    Carbon Exterior
$6,750 - CEAI - Front Bumper Insert Carbon Fiber
$3,712 - FCWS - Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler
$9,956 - CEXS - Carbon Fiber Underdoor Cover
$5,062 - CELB - Rear Bumper Sides in Carbon
    $25,480 subtotal

Worst ROI ever is carbon, so you really have to want it, to justify it.

I get it. I did every exterior carbon option on my Pista. But I think its out of my system. Getting a little tired of it personally. Black pack at 18 grand is still a rip off. I mean I think any body shop can paint the pieces for probably like 2k. But it is what it is.

I just can’t believe this is where I ended up. I still remember buying my used F12. I never dreamed that I would lose my mind the way I have. And my condition does not seem to be normalizing. Interesting that my wife, who is beyond frugal, is actually tolerant of this madness.

I would have done the damn scoop too had it been positioned similar to the 620R.

I get it but Im slowing down a bit. Enjoying what I have for longer. The lust to add anything and everything is gone. My plan Ive posted before- 4 cars (maybe 5) and every year rotate the oldest one out so every year you get something new. Its my go to plan for now.

If it is not there is it just an Alcantara wall or something?

I suppose the Spider won’t need this?

    Thanks Cadster,

I was just a little confused as to what it was actually for. I though it may have been for better sound deadening and heat protection.

Being able to see the engine make sense.

And yes we do buy too many cars. I wonder if these forums egg us on more to do so??
