I have been following prices on both of these cars. The gap is closing, but mostly due to the 296 pricing. You get a 296 around $40,000 more than a similarly equipped F8. Reviews show the 296 being one of the best Ferraris made. I am puzzled by the pricing of F8 staying so high. The 488 are holding value as well. I guess some are stuck on NA power plants.

The F8 is a V8 and some buyers are not sold on the V6 idea (of a brand new engine). For some customers size wise they don't fit comfortably in the 296 but that is not an issue for them in the F8. For others the electric drive with the 296 is not a plus. For these reasons and more the F8 is a good seller and an even better 'buy' now.
The last N/A Ferrari V8 introduced was the 2014 458 Speciale.

I’ve been following both very closely in shopping both cars, I think the F8 value will continue to stay high or at least depreciate less than the 296 just given the lack of hybrid system in the old school interior interface. Even though the 296 is a better car I’m not sure the whole package is as appealing and ultimately I think will depreciate much steeper than the f8.

dealers are being stubborn though and not moving much from there asking prices. Another member on this forum had to go to Canada to buy 296 at a reasonable price

You do understand that many cars at dealers are on consignment and the selling prices are generally set by the owners of the cars. It may well be that buyers are looking/wishing to pay less for the 296. And that is ok as the market is speaking on that point.

Understood. More so on the 296s than F8s. Seems like dealers are scouring smaller used car lots for f8s and then buying them to certify

  7. V8, pure ICE, no longer in production ... all make the 488/F8 more desirable than the 296.

It doesn't make the 488/F8 a better car, just a more desirable one currently.

I certainly know the car lineage as an owner of an F430, 458, and now a 488. I would think the diehards stopped at 458s. V8 turbo vs. V6 turbo/hybrid is maybe just not that different to me, especially when reviews taut the 296 as having a better sound, plus being pretty much better in most other aspects. I guess I am more surprised that the 488/F8 market didn’t soften on price more with the 296 release.

Been lucky to have owned F8 now own 296 GTB , the 296 beats the F8 hands down the exhaust note is far better on 296 the shear handling and looks, I have already covered over 5000 miles in mine and off around Europe next week to do another 3000 miles one of the biggest problems I always had with the F8 was the muted sound track and the rear engine cover (did over 8000 miles in F8 in 2 years of ownership) Ferrari are only going in one direction and that is hybrid and full electric

I have both. 296 more refined, chassis smoother, very fast and sounds great. The digitals take a bit of getting used to. Would love to take the car to the track. F8, not much to say other than Wow! So beautiful and still very fast. Infotainment? What’s that. Still, despite the inferior sound, I like my F8 better, for now. Will give it a bit more time to see which one stays, but the F8…

It might come down to numbers made as well… although IMHO the 296 is on a different level performance wise, technology, etc as it should be … but at the same time Ferrari is churning out thousands of them… a number of Ferrari buyers it feels are also not sold on the 296 looks, fact it’s “only a V6” or the haptics or indeed how reliable the hybrid technology will be over time…

the F8 was a run out model and I think numbers made are even lower than Pistas so scarcity should also help support their values

I think they made more F8 than Pista.

I also think the normal course of things, with the F8 seeing some more depreciation, will occur as time goes on.

Whats helping right now is the big switch over to the hybrid tech, the new interior, and a different pricing level, theres a lot of newness, the market place is still adjusting to it.

There are previous threads on this subject and I still believe the F8 ended up being sold in smaller numbers. The Pista didn’t end up being as exclusive as first thought and estimates of between 4k-6k were sold worldwide during its production run which was considerably longer than that of the F8. However if you have the data then be useful to know.

I simply have my own observations based on what I see out in the world. I think they made more F8s than Pistas, but this is why I use the word think as opposed to know.

As an F8 owner, I am more than happy to perpetuate the idea that more Pistas were made than F8's

  17. As a Pista owner, so am I.

It just means that I if I want to pickup a second Pista, they will be easier and cheaper to find.
