I have both and the PLAID is crazy fast in a straight line, has some cool tech and room for 5.

The F8 is just an event every time you drive it.

  2. I never thought I would see the words "hardcore" and "f8" in the same sentence, especially on a Ferrari message board.

Here is my MC20 and so far the car drives me nuts. I can't see the turn signals - as they are blocked by the steering wheel, the rear view mirror is blurry, the sound is awful, and while cool, I can't park the car under my Tdf on my 4 post lift because of the doors swinging up.

They should have offered this car with the NA V8 from the MC Stadale. I would glady sacrifice 150hp for a glorious engine note.

The doors look cool, and no doubt will help sell the car, but when I looked at it all I could think about how hard it would be to park .. next to other cars.. filling with petrol/gas..

    Funny you should say...

My daughter had her wisdom teeth out and today wanted to go to Sonic Drive-In for milk shakes. BIG mistake to take the Maserati (I've never been to a Sonic) and what a disaster. We parked to order and couldn't reach the order screen nor could we open the doors to get out to order.

I have zero issue at all navigating parking, gas station, etc. in my Mclaren, nor did I in my i8. Are the MC20 doors different, somehow? I've always found traditional super car doors more annoying than butter fly doors.

I didn’t have a McLaren right there to compare it against, but the MC20 doors looked like they needed way more space.
@Challenge64 you would let your daughter have a milkshake in your car??? I think you need to think of the door issue more as a safety feature then. They stopped a potential nasty accident :)

It was pretty painful surgery so yes...BUT come to find out the MC20 has nothing at all close to what we call "cup holders"...unlike my daily driver the Lusso

I would of actually preferred they slapped the 458 n/a v8 in the mc20. Imagine what a beast rhe car would of been

  12. It would also be slower.

So slow as to be irrelevant, esp. for a "brand new" car that redefines the brand.

Porsche seems to be able to do a lot with just 500hp in their GT3 and everyone is continually losing their mind over the NA V6 powerplant...

Me personally, I care most about the experience, and without sound nothing else matters.

    speed is not the benchmark
there is no V6 on the planet that cannot be improved with 2 more cylinders

  16. LOL.

You're actually comparing Maserati to Porsche when it comes to chassis tuning, driving dynamics and overall aero in order to maximize essentially an outdated and inefficient layout? Porsche has like decades (like 1/2 a century) on Maserati when it comes to this game.

  17. For 99% of the people who will buy a MC20, speed is the benchmark unfortunately.

They cranked it up to 600 HP with the speciale, im sure with latest engineering they could crank another 20HP or more with the glorious, responsive, amazing sounding, thrilling downshifting 458 engine. Over a quiet, turbo v6, with a light lag when you downshift and no sound all new engine with a GPF.

I disagree as there are faster things they could get for the price, I think people like it because it's a non-hybrid, carbon tub, beautiful styling and the maserati brand is strong and not disliked by the public as much as ferrari etc

When I was a kid in the 70s it was Maserati I dreamed about and not Ferrari. Nothing rolls off the tongue as evocatively as Maserati IMO and the public love them.

The 'dull' sound would also annoy me but is that not something which can be tweaked afterwards?

I am selling our house in Cayman, as soon as that sells. I am putting my name on an MC20. I sold my 458 Speciale last year. No regret but now it's time to look for a new ride. I am particularly interested in the MC20 electric

it's interesting isn't it, I've had things thrown at me when driving ferraris but whenever i've been in a maserati the public are just so warm to it. they see it much less ostentatious and more exotic
