Just came back from a 2400 mile car rallies trip in my MC20. Everywhere we went people came up to the MC20 before the McLarens Ferraris Aston Martins etc. I was surprised everyone knew it was a Maserati only one person asked if it was a Ferrari.
Don’t confuse smooth subtle gorgeous Italian styling with rocketship wings and interiors of other fancy supercars. I mean a Subaru WRX has a wing
I give the MC20 a 9.5 out of 10. There’s nothing like the ride given by a carbon fiber tub and this one has the stiffest one. And that also allows a lot of suspension travel and a very very low COG. This car feels like it’s on rails.
The power is immense 0-60mph in 2.9, a launch control and goes over 200mph so it hits all of the big things a supercar owner wants. The 0-200kph speed is good but it’s a bit slower than some cars. But the power is snappy and linear I just puts you to the back of the seat. All the supercars I did pulls against nobody was noticeably faster and I was faster than many.
And I traded cars with my friend in his Ferrari Portofino and I got to tell you I think he liked a whole lot that’s what he said. The main thing you’d notice is different is that carbon fiber tub it just gives a on rails ride.
The only disappointment I have is the car is heavier than it really should be but all new cars are heavy. But that really only affects you on race tracks with really tight corners.
Also the cargo storage is limited it’s OK for two weeks to people we got by just fine as we discovered there’s a shelf behind the seats and we bought some coolers that fit just perfectly in there so we had quite a bit more room.
Exhaust is kind of quiet people say it sounds amazing and great but I think you’re talking about the turbos because at 28 psi those turbos make the most amazing beautiful sounds I have heard from any supercar. When I first got the car I thought I had something wrong with it with all the hissing and squeaking and puffing and mazing number of noises it makes. And when you’re going up a mountain pass you can play with the gas pedal and make it sing a song
What I’m going to do is have a titanium valved exhaust made and remove the particle filters. This will save me over 100 pounds and allow the car to be relatively quiet like it is now and also really loud when I want it to be.
Also if you look at the price this fast supercar with its carbon fiber tub butterfly doors and exotic gorgeous looks it’s a value!
And even on race tracks like this with tight corners it’s still extremely fast. Fast enough to chase down the top of the line Radical RXC racecar
Maserati MC20 fast laps with Radical RXC at Qlispe raceway

Nice car and vid, but couldn’t figure out the purpose of that cone in the middle of the track.

Thanks Well that cone goes along with all the cracks and bumps this very old racetrack was closed for the last couple years and they haven’t put any money into it when they reopened it. That’s actually covering a part of asphalt that’s coming up but they are going to patch it.
Very old very fast dangerous track. If you don’t have good brakes or good suspension coil overs are shocks you can bounce or skid right off the track I get up over 160mph for an instant at times doing a hot lap. I much prefer a smoother tracks that also have elevation and that top out around 150 mph at most.

I have the optional electronic differential. I’m blown away how it put so much power down without spinning the tires.

I am not sure why people are comparing the F8 to MC20
    They are completely different birds.
    It's like comparing a Porsche 959 to 1988 cabriolet
The MC20 falls more into the Ferrari 296 world

I’d disagree with that. For starts the MC doesn’t have the hybrid engine. Both have >600hp turbo-charged engines and can be driven everyday like still providing you a sporty and elegant ride. I’d say they’re very close to each other.

And I have to say, I’m personally contemplating both of them.

my biggest issue, since i have a 458 and I’m a sound nut, is the engine note. Would love to see the result of the changes he’s making on that front.

MC20 sound is not good. I haven't heard the 296 so I cannot compare, but the F8 has much better sound.

I have 6,000 miles on my MC20 now. 1/2 of them supercar rallies and about 1,000 on racetrack road course.
Every where I go the MC20 was the biggest hit or at least biggest talk of the show. Absolutely stunning lines and design outside. Inside very spacious, nice and elegant but does not look like a racecar if that is the look you want.
The sound grows on you because initially you’re expecting and wanting some loud growling motor from the exhaust. But the exhaust is more subdued but still a nice sound. But the big payoff is the turbo noises. I thought I have heard every noise an ICE engine can make until I bought this car! The turbo sounds are intoxicating!
That being said I’m going to put a Valved exhaust on which will drop off a couple hundred pounds and getting some extra HP and then have the best of both worlds.
Driving this car is amazing because of the low low COG also it feels extremely fast and it is.
A few pictures from this weekend at a supercar event near Glacier Park.

Yes, the MC20 sounds awful and yes the F8 sounds better (of course Pista even better than the F8). The 296 also sounds better. In fact pretty much everything sounds better.

Not as wrong as it would be from an accepting buyer I guess...
