During W.W. I the factory silver soldered the primer caps into the end of large artillery shells - it was all part of the Russian war effort.

Let us know if you find one!

If you are referring to the work of Carl Faberge the nineteenth century Russian goldsmith . . . no. I suspect you will need to check with some of the major auction houses or New York, London, etc art dealers. You'll need an AM EX black card.

In '02 one piece sold for $9.5 million.

Faberge was rather like Tiffanies is today, it was a large concern with lots of workers toiling away. Very few pieces had only one set of hands craft them, and silver was used more than gold.

I seem to remember there were nine or twelve major like jewelers in Russia just before the revolution, Britzen for example.

Faberge made lots of nicknacks - and exported a ton of them to the U.S. when new. Forgetting all that Easter Egg stuff, you should be able to track down a cigarette case without too much hassle.

Pretty much what I am looking for. Eggs are a little out of what I would be willing to pay for a desk ornament.

Kram is nuts. Faberge is nothing like Tiffanie. I’ve seen them both at the Million Dollar Saloon and Tiffanie is a fetching blonde while Faberge is a spectacular red head. But you’re right about one thing, neither one of them is cheap. Well, they may be cheap, but their expensive. If you know what I mean. In any case, both would make fine desk ornaments.

I saw a cigar box and a cigerettte box once that, as I recall, were quite fetching. I believe they were in silver. That would be my range i should think.
