Tom, in your PM you mentioned dash light problems.

Which lights are you referring to - the speedo/rev counter or centre gauge cluster ?

I recently had a problem whereby the centre cluster lights were intermittently on/off, when off the centre gauges were going nutty and the windows wouldn't open or close. I can't recall if this also affected the main gauges as well.

If you're encountering similar problems its due to a bad earth behind the centre gauge cluster which is really easily fixed.

I can't claim any praise for finding the fix - the guru pointed me in the right direction.

Not gonna tell you who he is - you'll find out in time when he comes to your rescue like a knight on a white stallion.

Hi Russ, I can only see green/blue headlights and L/R indicators. Saw a 308 thread regarding replacing all the instrument lights but I can't believe they are all bad.

    Thanks,

Not the same problem as mine - are the centre cluster gauges illuminating ?

Very obvious comment but if they're all out/dim have you checked the rheostat on the main dash binnacle to make sure its not been turned off/down or that a fuse hadn't blown ?

Just went through this, bypassed the dimmer, cleaned up grounds, replaced bulbs with 4w, much brighter now

    Godspeed!

Ha! What's so obvious about turning the Rheostat the wrong way?? Ok...so I ran a controlled test this pm and was able to see the dimly lighted instruments once I figured out what the BIG white arrow on the Dimmer knob means...(-* Good Grief.

Still too dim for my old eyes so I'm gonna try the bypass & bulb replacement - Thanks a lot Russ & thanks all!!

Ferrari must have designed the 400i's dash lights after the British Lucas electrics design where the lights have three positions: Off, Dim and Dimmer! :)

Perfect for Dim Bulbs...sheesh. Btw, 5x 205 vr15 70 Michelins are $3.2K. How nice for moi. Good thing I'm selling MBs, but what happens when I run out of them? Will reduce my bride's allowance I guess...(-*
