I know how much we all love and admire the 458 for truly being the best of the breed for a number of reasons. I also know that many members and owners of the 458 also either have or are considering getting the McLaren 12C. There is absolutely no denying that the 12C is a phenomenal car both in terms of engineering, execution and poise but also performance on AND off the track.

However, for anyone who has had the privilege of experiencing both cars it seems that the one major complaint on the McLaren would have to be the sub-par sound and the passion lost as a result! Now I am not saying it is possible to make the McLaren (or any car for that matter) sound better than the 458. What I am saying is that Fabspeed Motorsport has been able to bring back some of the utter excitement of having an 8,500 RPM V8 attached to your back and the glorious sound that should accompany.

The car in the video has only our Sportcats and our ECU/TCU tune. If you seek even more sound and Performance from the McLaren we offer our Catbypass pipes as well as our resonator bypass X-pipe to really wake it up further!

Please use this thread as feedback for the exhaust and any other questions can be directed to me VIA PM or by email at [email protected]

Why is a pitch for aftermarket parts for another marque posted here?

Because nobody reads the British section :D:D

Annnnnd, the 12C is the 458's superior in many ways (donning flame suit) only lacking in the sound department, which this "fix" apparently addresses.

I would not say superior in many ways, maybe straight line speed, but handling is matter of opinion, quality matter of opinion etc. I saw straight line performance is the only non argument that the McLaren outperforms the 458 in.

factory exhaust (it is a May 2010 coupe :) ) with capristo exhaust valve control system, bmc carbon racing air filter for more sound depth, oem titanium exhaust tips for better sound reverb and a full tank of 100 octane racing fuel (the manettino setting was in race mode all through the video)

Doesn't sound too bad. But I was impressed with the sound of the 12c, at least in race. May not scream like the Ferrari, but it has a nice tone. The intake sounds help, but one of the best turbo cars I have heard.

It's even better when you run the catbypass pipes and resonator delete! It allows the turbo noise to see through providing some fun backfires on overrun :) The sound of the McLaren is totally unique and unlike anything I have heard to date. The more time I have to examine the quality and build of the McLaren the more I love it. Great attention to detail in all the carbon fiber work! I hope that the 458 replacement will have a carbon monocoque design!

I was hoping to have some owners of both cars chime in on their thoughts about what a good aftermarket exhaust for the McLcaren could do to comparison between it and the 458 as I truly believe that it is an area which deserves to be addressed. Hopefully people still will see the thread in the British section
