I purchased a 2007 F430 Spider in January of this year, the car has about 14K miles. I have been very worried everytime I drive the car, fearing that the headers may crack, after much thought and research I decided to replace the headers with Fabspeed and at the same time install the Capristo Mounts. So, I took the car to the Ferrari dealership few days ago and they performed the work in about 10 hours. I have to say that I am glad that I did it as I now enjoy driving the car without any concerns. I felt that it was a fair price to pay for peace of mind.

The Fabspeed headers are very high quality pieces (Travis from Fabspeed was amazing to deal with, he even helped me get the Capristo mounts), although the sound of the car changed to a louder one, it is a beautiful sound and makes you feel like you are on the track. I must admit that the sound is louder than I thought it would be, nonetheless it is amazing. I di dnot get any CEL warning, so far so good........

The Capristo mounts did take a lot of vibration out of the engine and I noticed that change in the cabin as well. Well worth getting them.

I thought to post my experience so any new Ferrari owner (Like myself) who struggles with those decisions can draw on my experience. By the way, I am not mechanically inclined at all that is why I was so scared of the headers cracking, since I cannot tell when it happens.

I have broken both mounts fixed to the gearbox, mine being the later version. Now fitted the Capristo system which needs all the OEM mounts to be removed. Seems to work fine and the movement between hot and cold is very noticable. You can see the difference in the bolt position in the elongated holes

One month after installing the Fabspeed Headers, I got the CEL so I plugged in the OBD2 scan tool and got both banks catalyst warning P0420 and P0430. I connected with Travis at Fabspeed and was advised that I will need to get the oxygen sensor extensions with built in mini catalyst and that should take care of the problem. I was aware that it is a 50/50 chance that I might get the CEL. I will provide an update once I receive and install the parts.

    Hi, Aloha?

Within 1 month when you got the CEL, how many miles did you drive? I got mine installed a week ago and so far No CEL (Knock on wood) and the car is amazing with high pitch sound with S-Line exhaust. Did you experience the car gets warmed up quickly than usual? and stay in hogher temperature than before? Mine does not go into the red zone but staying in higer range.

Do you also have balnket for the headers?

    Mahalo,

    Hi Yangstein,

The CEL came on about 120 miles after the headers were installed. I do not have the blanket, I was told that I did not need them. Yes, the car warms up faster and stays warmer than normal after shutting it off, aside from that I am very happy with Fabspeed headers and the Capristo Mounts. The sound is amazing and I have no fear of possible cracked headers. Travis from Fabspeed assured me that the CEL light can be dealt with and we are taking steps to address it, I am not worried about it. I hope that you are one of the lucky 50% that does not experience the CEL.

Same here (360), about 50 miles after I picked up my car, obviously the shop test drove it for a while and ran it to get rid of the smoke the new blankets emit (I do have the blankets) the CEL came with code 421, I am too waiting for the mini cats extenders, but now I know I can take them off for a while to perform the smog and pass the visual inspection, I will reset my ECU and see how many miles I drive it before I get the CEL again.

    Update
I got a CEL again after 80 miles, this time 421 and 431, I am resetting the ECU by disconnecting the power through the kill switch this time instead of just erasing the code with my iPhone (elm327 and eobd facile App)
I will follow aldous voice recommendation to see if I can get all the monitors completed before getting another CEL, I am not worried if I do, just curious

    Another update
I followed the Aldous voice recommendation after killing the battery for like 45 minutes and funny thing (maybe it was coincidence) the CEL returned (this time only code P0421) way faster than before (after only 10 miles) it looks like when you complete the monitors faster you get the CEL faster.
Well now to wait until Fabspeed 02 mini cats are back in stock.

Brian: I drove the car today for like 140-150 miles and it was a really hot day, I did not notice any higher temperature, both gauges (oil and water) were below the center.

Well. I did not get to drive it a lot as "June Gloom" was in fact all over So Cal. It rained (?) 0n both Saturday and Sunday here in Orange County which is very rare.

I took it out for little rides when it was not raining. I took it out for a long ride to Newport and came back. I guess I've put around 150+ miles since I got her back. No CEL yet. I discovered that car gets warmer quick but when you are cruising on highway, temp drops quickly as well. Nothing near the red zone but I can see the difference. Although it is insanely loud (Headers + S Line Exhaust), it only happens when you push the car. When cruising around 3K-4K RPM on Highway, car is as quiet as Lexus LS460 IMHO... I thoght I would need a noise cancelation headphone or a helmet but the sound is even more quiet on highway cruising.. Very happy. Just need that damn blanket to make sure no damages to nearby parts...

And to make them less noticeable to a smog technician (and also keep the main cat hotter)

Mini-cat spacers are going to be ready to ship at the beginning of this coming week. I will be PM'ing those who I have spoken with already to get these out the door for you guys. Looking forward to seeing the data, we have had solid results so far on the cars we've tested them on.

I used to like fabspeed, and now...well... I will say that as there's no room for thermal expansion (and ferrari's rather "interesting mounting design") I've had my wonderful fabspeed Maxflo muffler welded up, again. As far as headers though? Not bad. Could be made out of something better than whatever steel they're using. But then again, you get what you pay for. And they are reasonably priced. Sound wise? Again pretty good. Especially their 996 porsche products.
