Update: Headers are still in the works, they've been busy with two other major projects for shows / magazines. Latest word is they should start shipping our 355 headers early next week. I'm hoping to stop in and pick mine up on Monday :D

As for coating, I'm strongly leaning towards having mine coated locally. The reason is mostly cosmetic (keep the 'silver' color'), partly heat transfer (some small heat retention benefit; not huge, but directionally good).

Well, yes.... and no. The only dyno runs I have seen are of engines that are modified in other ways as well, so the contribution of the headers to the overall package is unknown. I DO know from first hand experience that a well designed and well manufactured set of headers will give extra power on a 355. I think it would be fair to say that the Fabspeed headers meet those criteria.... and exceed them significantly :)

Hey Guys, Since you're replacing both of your headers does anyone have a good drivers-side one they want to part with? PM if you do...

    Thanks!

Yep, thanks man!!! I still owe you guys some pictures of them installed, I'll post them in the next few days. I have put some good miles on the car and no problems with heat. I didn't coat mine, the shop fabbed up a heat shield for the alternator and the Oil tank and we are good to go!!!

Ok guys, the 5.2 headers are shipping over the next few days, the 2.7's shortly thereafter.

I'm sold on coating, having it done locally. It's a long story...but basically they're using this coating:

    http://www.airborncoatings.com/index3.html

The company is Central CT Coatings, but don't bother checking the website as it's not up. This is the same coating they put on my STi headers which run much hotter, and after a few years they still look good - and no flaking, etc. I'm bringing my headers over when they come in, right now they have another part of my project in process :D

The group buy price is $2345 with free shipping; must have been a mistake communicating group buy price to whoever actually did the billing. Don't sweat it, the group buy price is well documented here.

Just spoke with Fabspeed--It was an error on there part and will correct it today--So anyone who got charged higher than the gruop buy price should see an adjustment...Also got mine about 10 minutes ago-they look wonderful!!

Jay those headers look superb but why don't they offer the option with some OEM lookalike heatshields?

That would offer a good OEM look alternative and also provide a heat reduction solution.

What is the majority consensus on coating?? Some wrapping, some coating, some making heat shields, some coating and making shields?? What are you guys doing? Anyone already install them--Any problems??? I was thinking of having them ceramic coated and leaving it as that...

I'm ceramic coating for both looks and heat. In a few years they will tarnish and rust, like my uncoated STi downpipe. Looked amazing on arrival like these, but that just doesn't last forever. I'm having them coated inside and out for max heat retention. Also making heat shields - for motor mounts, alternator, brake / clutch lines, and maybe another for the oil tank.

i have swain coating on my amg headers. doesn't look too great - dull silver. but would prob last a long time and be a more efficient thermal barrier vs jet hot.

don't know if just the inside of the headers could be coated but that may work whilst still preserving looks. http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10971

My take is don't coat them, and don't wrap them!!! Fab up an alternator shield, and oil tank shield and enjoy!!! I have had NO heat problems and drive my 355 at least 4 days a week. I have sat in traffic, and also out cruising through town (stop and go every 100ft) and haven't had any problems...

Does anyone know if the fabspeed group buy is still available? I emailed them but got no response.
Also, those that were overcharged on their billing (credit cards)......did Fabspeed process a credit to reflect the discount?

Group buy price is still open, give them a call to place the order and confirm the Ferrarichat group buy price. I didn't check my credit card, but they did call back same day to confirm they put a credit through.

Mine are going today for ceramic coating...
