Fabspeed Headers on 360

They're great - needed some tuning (I guess) to get everything right. They were a great upgrade and I'm glad I switched to them (since my old headers/precats had failed). One thing is pretty much for sure - they look like works of art.

There are several members here who are running our headers for the added performance and sound as well as the added security in knowing that they will not fail. Please feel free to ask any specific questions and I will be happy to assist.

 

If you do a search you will find lots of info on the subject... e.g. search "fabspeed CEL" in the 360/430 section. It seems aftermarket headers without pre-cats trigger CELs for some.

This is true for almost all aftermarket headers. It is less common to trigger a CEL when you keep the factory cats that are after the headers and generally the O2 sensor extenders work very well in that application if there are any engine lights triggered. Some cars are just more on edge than others.

 

I have replaced my cats and I have the extenders.

To get my CEL to disappear, we had to replace four (4) O2 sensors. We also installed new ECUs, but that was more to get rid of a phony "slow down" light.

Now, I have NO CELs or slow down warning / limp mode.

 

When running aftermarket headers without the pre-cats in combination with a high flow primary cat it is more likely in some cases that a CEL will appear. This can be solved with O2 sensor extenders in most cases, if not the ECU tune will not only gain you performance but also turn off the CEL 100% guaranteed.

 

It is probably good to state these things up front when people ask, so that people don't think you can just swap factory headers for aftermarket headers and ride happily into the sunset.

Here's another thing:

Not sure how similar the Fabspeed headers are to the Power Agency's, but I had PA's and although they were good and made power, they altered the sound of the car. It changed it to a flatter more muffled tone (like a muscle car) and altered its beautiful howl and scream. I was told that any header that's a "4 into 1" design will do this, thus the reason why Ferrari used the 4-2-1. I switched to the Euro-headers without the primary cats and the soundtrack was back.

So please be aware of this as an FYI for anyone considering this change! I'm not saying its bad, just different.

 

Can you please provide some details? I was told this wouldn't work (i.e. installing 1999 headers on a 2000 car).

 

Headers required some modifications to accommodate the 02 sensors. They basically drilled and welded in fittings to accept the 02 sensors in the headers replicating those on the US version. Let me know if you need more info and I can supply you with the company who did it.
