I feel like I've been blowing up the forums here since getting this car, but I've just had so many questions. I do apologize and the posts will slow down after this.

I have decided to keep the air rails on my car. The CS came with air rails in the US and I just want to keep the car as original as possible. I know they are emissions related and only in the US, but I would not even be replacing the headers if the car was not prone to having headers failures and if this one in particular didn't already have cracked headers. Again, I'm buying the CS not to be a highly modified car and I want to just keep what systems are on it, on it. Hope that makes sense. if I change my mind later I can always swap to different headers. Also, related topic.....I took someone's advice here and had the motor compression tested today at Ferrari of San Antonio and the engine compression came back just about as perfect as it can be so that's great! Anyways, because of that I have narrowed it down to 2 choices.

    Fabspeed and Larini

They both seem great and oddly because of our exchange rate now, Larini is thousands less than Fabspeed and I kind of like their Inconel wrap. They just look like something that would be on a Ferrari. I was all set on pulling the trigger on Larini, but then I did some searching and I saw some posts here about timelines for building the headers being MONTHS off and also the headers being so out of spec that shops had to cut and actually weld in extensions. Is this actually the case? Definitely unexpected, but if that's so, then Fabspeed it is for me.

2nd question is about protection from heat? if I get Fabspeed, they offer the header blanket. I know that works, but are there not better options such as JetHot 2500 coatings? I always thought those coatings kept in heat like a wrap would? Some places say they do. Some places say they don't do anything. Looking for advice. Will get a header blanket if needed but a nice modern coating would be much preferred if possible.

Just wanted to make one final post about them before pulling the trigger and getting this ball rolling.

    Thanks,
    Mike

My tech will not go near Fabspeed products. Many reports both pro and con on their quality control. Would OEM be prohibitively expensive? If not I would go with them. The original headers have lasted almost 20 years.

Your tech then is an idiot. Fabspeed has been at this for a long time and know what they are doing. However, with that in mind, you can't go wrong with Larini. However, if budget is not a consideration, I would go with Tubi. https://www.vividracing.com/-p-152414483.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw8JKbBhBYEiwAs3sxNxU9Zwp-KE-ibOKtHL2i-KX299sPZoUZT1FAh5zcRZgByuJOIZXlLxoCpGsQAvD_BwE

Also - would not go with OEM headers. You're going to deal with precat failure eventually...

My tech who is an "idiot" has finished in the top 5 techs yearly for many years in a row in the Ferrari factory competition for the best dealer tech in the world. He has 20 plus years of experience and is a certified master tech. Of course, you are more knowledgible. He does agree with the quality of Tubi products. What he has found is that there are often fitment issues with Fabspeed products.

Dealer tech? LOL:p. If he's that good, why doesn't he own his own specialty shop? Let me clue you in on something, the most talented techs don't continue to work for a franchisee, they set up their own shops and steal the dealers clients and keeps more of the hourly $ for himself. Dealers are not even supposed to fit aftermarket products so I suspect he has virtually no experience installing aftermarket headers.

You sir are both incorrect and arrogant in your assumptions. Not everyone choses to go into business for themselves especially when their rate of pay is commensurate with their level of expertise and free of the headaches associated with being an individual shop owner.
I suspect that many customers have had great experience with Fabspeed but there a good many who have not had this positive experience.
In any case, I have "no dog in this fight" other than trying to help the original poster.

I had the JetHot coating done on an off-road car exhaust and it definitely keeps down the heat coming off the pipes.

The main issue you may run into with fabspeed is timing. With supply chain issues I think there's a considerable wait time as their assembly is all done in the states, but i believe some of the materials are not domestically sourced.

Also keep in mind the OEM header is a 4-2-1 design, which is how Tubi and Larini are built. The fabspeed headers are 4-1 (less mid range, more up top). This was the main driver for me going Tubi.

So what you're saying is this particular tech that routinely earns worldwide recognition for their skill prefers to work for someone else, at a much lower income level rather than themselves at a much higher income level? Thus, their drive to be the best doesn't translate in the individual wanting to maximize his earnings? Cognitive Dissonance much?

Lastly, from your experience, do dealers allow their techs to install after market products?

Oh wow! Never knew about the Tubi headers. I like that they look OEM too. Do they have the air rails?

Not everyone in this world is driven soley by the almightly dollar. While I was self-employed it clearly took it's toll on my family time. Not everyone chooses this path for their lives.Your comment about "stealing clients" is a reflection on your moral values which do not apply to everyone in this world. In so far as installing aftermarket parts, this depends on the dealership and your relationship with them as well as the age of the vehicle and whether it violates local and federal statutes e.g. EPA.
I am trying to be polite in this discussion but my patience is wearing thin so let's just let it go.

Called Vivid Racing to ask if the Tubi headers had air rails. They are going to check for me. Do they on yours?

I don't own a CS, I have a 458. Most headers for most cars are going to be delayed several months. They're made to order pretty much. If you keep looking, you may find someone with them in stock. This is such an expensive part to keep it sitting on a shelf. Inventory costs can kill a business if it sits around.

Having a hard time getting any real information on Tubi or a timeframe at all. Larini has really given me a great option and a set timeframe so far. Doing a little more research, then I will be pulling the trigger on headers finally.
