A long time friend of mine was a very eclectic collector, having owned Daytonas, a 275 coupe, and various F cars over the years. He relayed a story of a guy running a 275GTS at Riverside in the early 70's who thought he was pretty hot. Too hot as it turns out and he left the track, right into the tire barrier, leaving the car and one ego pretty damaged.

My friend went to help him (he was fine) and asked what to do with the car and parts. Expletives followed but indicated if he could carry it, he could have it. The grill was all my friend wanted and he had it for 40 years.

I later sold him a bunch of E type parts, but in lieu of payment, I asked him about this grill. He told me the story and agreed to the trade. I hung in my garage (above my 512BBi) for nearly 10 years.

I mounted a wall bracket using one of the original holes and it was my most commented upon wall hanging. (There were 3 original Ferrari paintings nearby!) But now I'm selling it and hope someone else will enjoy it.

It honestly could be restored as it is indeed aluminum and as far as I can see, only one of the L-shaped bends in the grill vertical is torn. There are no 'hard' bend creases either, but aluminum is very forgiving of course. It still has the original side screens. But I liked it as wall art, yet the next owner can do as chosen.

Though an original 275GTS grille would be $4000 if you can find one, and the old style Cavallino would be $500 alone (this one is a mint, patinated greenish one, untouched for 50 years), I'll accept the first $1000 or best. PayPal, Venmo, whatever. I'll pack it like jewelry for free, but shipping is whatever it is. You can have a quite prominent piece of a $1.5m car in your garage! :)
