Factory car wrap

You would be wrong! I would look at a local fitter and believe there are many excellent, indeed better products in the US. I think the factory just wrap to half way up the hood which looks terrible and leaves a clear ridge whereas bespoke you can even cover the entire car if you are that concerned.

 

Agree with Tim. It will be cheaper to get it done locally as well. Plus I would want my paintwork detailed to perfection before any clear bra goes onto the paint...not happening in a lot of cases from the factory unfortunately.

 

When I got my FF I had dealer do full detail and then add CilaJet paint protectant on exterior and related family of products on interior carpet, leather, dash, etc. prior to adding clear bra. Clear bra was far more extensive than a factory-install. Basically covered full hood, bumper, side panels, edge of doors, etc. Combined costs was around $2800.

 

You will get a better wrap job done at 40% of the cost by getting a good local shop to do it for you. What's more they will do the entire front end. A slam dunk case.

 

The California section has heard this from me before, averaging 20,000 miles a year on my Ferrari's I have never had a wrap in NW Ohio. I use Dr. Color Chip www.drcolorchip.com to fix the few stone chips every few months and my cars look great. With 4,000+ miles since early October on my FF I have no chips. The very first I got on my first Cali was located toward the top of the hood, near the windshield so a partial wrap would not have helped. If you were married to Jennifer Aniston would you wrap her so you didn't hurt her? Hell no so why wrap a Ferrari. They both look so much better with nothing on them!

You are completely wrong if you think the factory will put the clear bra on. They don't!!! It is supplied on a roll and placed in the vehicle when it is shipped. The price is a joke. It is then for the dealer to have it installed. No different than choosing your own local guy who may well be the same guy that would do the F wrap anyway. The material from the factory is not as good as others locally available. I chose not to have the factory do my 458. I had a perfect job done by my Florida F dealer who used a local company. I did not have the hood wrapped either because it looks like crap if you do no matter who good the film.

However, there are plenty of places that the car does come with some plastic protection directly from the factory. Most of them are very small and by the wheels wells or where stones would get thrown up.

These areas are standard equipment.

 

I had a 458 with the ferrari wrap, only went half way up the hood so showed a very obvious line, you could also see the lines round the mirrors and front wing vents.
Second 458 I have just picked up I got the dealer to put armour fend on, far better, full bonnet is covered so no line, and overall u really have to look closely to spot it's on, very invisible and far better than was on the first 458
I live up a country lane and drive a lot in rural roads so I would always have the film on, it really does keep the car very well protected indeed
Contrary to the previous post I wouldn't be adverse to seeing Jennifer wrapped in transparent cling film at all!!

 

Get the car detailed to your liking first. Ferraris have lots of orange peel and other imperfections from the factory. The Ferrari dealer isn't the best option, they can do it but they aren't pros at it like some shops that solely apply it. At least it's 3M, that's a great product.

 

Hands down, better to have it installed after delivery and detail . . .

 

Especially if you could take it off after a bit and she doesn't age at all. Lol

 

I cannot recommend XPEL enough its superior to 3M, it cannot scratch or stain its totally self healing and has a much higher gloss than 3M, its the new standard.

That is true but then again most of my interactions with my F-car are not in bed on a nice soft duvet.

 

Ah, opinions differ on this. You'd do well to look at all the various options, they each have their plusses and minuses.

After delivery my local xpel installer applied ultimate for entire hood, front fenders, mirrors and rocker panel. On my Nero F12 hard to spot, but a little more easy to detect on my RC SpecialeA.
