I tried the search option but couldn't find what i was looking for. Question; Has anyone here had their car restored by Ferrari through their Classiche program?

I'm not talking about the certification that can be done by an authorized Ferrari dealership. I'm talking a complete restoration done by the factory, at the factory.

And if so, what were your thoughts of the finished product?

    Thanks.

It was an old one, a couple like a 166 or something like that, it was beyond nice. Like you would expect, beyond first class. makes you wonder who bought these cars back then.

The local mechanics felt it was first class.

I am aware of many older cars that have been restored, freshened or whatevered at SpA. EXPENSIVE and SLOW. But, the quality of the work is good.

OTOH, there's been lots of Classiche "issues" over the years. So, be cautious.

Last weekend was chatting with a couple of guys that are involved with it for the local F dealer. They had a $40K metal tester that they use to authenticate components of a car for the program. They compare different component metal contents to make sure that they are original to the car and that it hasn't been in a wreck and pieced together. I know of another guy that had a car restored at the Classiche program. It's over the top expensive but the car turned out beautiful and of course now well documented as being a car restored by Ferrari themselves.

A long-time friend had his 308 done with his engine rebuild a couple of years ago.
He's now got a nice 308, and a piece of paper assuring him that it's not a Fiero.

For the price of a perfect 328 or very nice 355 Spider, plus using his own car, they rebuilt the engine with the same heavy pistons and rods (metal fatigue is valuable patina, ya know), and the same issues they had 30 years ago (as he's found - several times so far).........Oh, and they buffed and waxed the paint.......and conditioned the leather.

Most expensive 308 in the world, if I had to guess.

But it has a piece of paper that says it is, and never was, a Fiero.

Didn't even offer to use KY, which would been a kind gesture on their part.

I'm just glad he enjoys it, and we know not to mention the cost ever again.
