2.5 You must have missed this one where Matt states that the car is "on a boat, and Ferrari knows it".
While I can appreciate that he has offended several people's sensibilities, what has he really done? Come on here and mislead everyone with mis-information that only impacts him? I'm not defending, but really who gives a s#!t? You mean to tell me no one on here has ever lied or BS'd before? Why continue to beat this dead horse and give him and the subject any more attention? Maybe he has a plausible reason for all the misconceptions... Maybe it's none of our business..... Why can't we occupy our time with stuff that's actually fun? I wish someone would close this thread already.
Wow. I haven't checked in here since last July, when I stated I had a pretty good idea where this would all end up. I guess I was right. Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. Fool us 3 times? I don't think so.
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, Can we see these emails? I am curious as to how he kept this whole thing moving.
I also received them with an amount of documentation which, suffice it to say, was rather extensive. The emails are marked as CONFIDENTIAL AND/OR LEGALLY PRIVILEGED.
I do not think he could take any legal action if the emails are posted and properly censored to protect his email address and those involved. To me it just seems like it adds to the whole fantasy of him being important.
It remains priviliged information, as I value oaths of secrecy. If you tell me something in confidence, it remains as such. For example, to this day, I've told no one of your exploits with the Dachsund.
point taken, and I admire your loyalty. Perhaps someone else who was privy to recieve such info wants to chime in?
LOL... actually when you send any information to anyone other than your lawyer there is no privilege. Privilege is to protect things you tell your lawyer, doctor, spouse or priest from being used in court proceedings. Assuming he had privilege on any information in those (which is unlikely), by sending it to Bruce, Carbon, or ANYONE he would immediately lose it. That said, if he tried to enforce any confidentiality what would be his losses? What would be the resolution? An injunction against reading his email about his 308 restoration plans? Is that worth paying a trial lawyer? All it means in the end is Matt saying, "Don't tell anyone else, please." I do respect that you uphold the confidence. But I just wanted to note that his wording doesn't have legal effect.
denial will only hinder my chances of growing as an individual and becoming a better person. Sooner or later, my past would catch up with me. Right Matt?
To be fair, it seems like people get banned from this site all the time for claiming things that are not true. What's the difference between some teenager claiming he's buying an Enzo and Matt claiming he's sending his car to Italy to be restored? The only difference I can see is that the teenager will end up getting banned, and Matt will be welcomed back at some point by a new bunch of people ready to listen to his mental adventures. Honestly, the moderators (who I have a great deal of respect for) should really show some consistency here.
+1 I think he gets slack because he was an owner, and one of the highest posters on the whole site (the time of 13,000 posts has to count for something in the calculus of punishment). It shows he hasn't logged in but I would put money that he's reading under an alias.
I believe the difference here is that we expect adults to behave like adults and kids to behave like kids. When adults begin to behave like kids a problem develops.
I say let Matt stay here, his stories offer great entertainment. 5 years ago when I first joined this site after purchasing my 328 he caused quite a frenzy with his $10k disassembled Boxer he supposedly bought. Gave me anxiety for weeks how I could have missed that car that had been sitting outside for years then dropped off at a mechanics shop taken apart, the owner died leaving a big bill but the shop only wanted the $10k bill paid for the car, dream barn find deal. Many others here were stepping over themselves understandably offering to buy the car from him for double profit, a few caught on early as the pics he posted showed 2 different cars one with a black bottom the other without, he's a great story teller that has stories that sound legit
