Candy and I just finished our Ferrari Factory tour and it was a wonderful expierence. We started out at the Galleria and connected with our guide, a young lady who spoke excellent english and was very knowlegeable. After a short tour through the Galleria, we boarded a rossa red Ferrari Bus for a short dirve to the factory. We entered the main entrace and passed under the original office buildings. All streets in the complex are named after historical figures in Ferrari history. Of course the main street is named after Enzo Ferrari.

The tour starts at the machining center a huge modern complex with lots of activity in fact 2 shifts a day. Solid blocks of aluminum machined into finished parts. Raw castings also done in house are machined into cylinder heads, crankcases, pan covers, cam shafts, crankshafts and other machine parts required to assemble the car.

We watched 2 robots named Romeo and Juliet pick up and install valve guides and valve cup liners using liquid carbonics and heat, a rather facinating process. CNC maching centers finishing valve covers, timing covers, and other parts needed machine time. Crank shafts being heat treated after grinding, as well as cam shafts. The machining center was a large extreamly high ceiling building with all natural light and many areas of live trees and flowers throughout. Dispersed through out the building were many vintage examples of Ferrari's from their historical collection As it is dinner time here and we are headed out to the Cavalini resturant accross from the main entrance, more to follow later. Our hotel rooms are overlooking the F-1 division and as of this moment they are doing dyno tersting on F-1 motors at extreamly high RPM and for extended duration. So far it has been running flat out for 10 minutes and shows no sign of giving up.

I'm not sure, but seem to recall that no cameras are allowed on the tours. :(

Now, a few shots from the hotel "overlooking the F1 division" of course is different.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Sadly that is true :(

I went a couple of weeks ago and they have some amazing cars dotted around the factory i was itching to take some pictures of. That got worse when we got into the F1/FXX/599XX areas  I was told that some tours are not allowed to enter the F1 area but luckily we got to go in and saw where they build the engines and we also the area where they build and work on the cars.

Took the tour of the factory last October, and have to say without a doubt, one of the coolest/most memorable experiences i've had.Everyone was cheerful, and acted passionate about their jobs. The experience could be compared to a Catholic going to visit the Pope.Absolutely awesome.Lunch in the Cavallino restaurant across the street from the factory was the icing on the cake!
