Been along time on the bucket list but I finally got to see beyond the Factory Gate so to speak. Part of the perks of the Ferrari club of Austria, (or any other club) is an annual spring trip to Maranello. Was my first event with the club in-fact as I joined end of ‘17. They combined it with a tour of the Lamborghini factory too the day before.

Was great to finally meet more owners as I don’t exactly live in a populated area of car enthusiasts.

I have been to Maranello several times but going “inside” left me a little surprised at how contrary the production facilities are between Ferrari and Audi owned Lamborghini. Extremely high tech with lots of robot automation vs the hand crafted lines for the Aventator and Huracan. Of course Lamborghini is heavily skewed to carbon fiber and Ferrari has a much larger volume to add to the mix.

It’s mind blowing to see the Corse Clienti
Area with at least 10 FXX K Evo’s and the neighboring room with 30 formula 1 customer cars waiting for their next outing.
Of course, Ferrari prevents any pics so I only have a couple at the entry before they cover each guests phones camera with a sticker.

I wait till May 1st before putting my 328 on the road here, but the tour and being in the area gives you such a gusto to drive, I had to try out / rent 458 Speciale at the Push Start Shop close to the factory.
Was nice to finally compare old and new school.

Above and beyond the factory had a chance to see the museum in Modena for the first time and the Galleria again. And as a Canadian, to see Gilles bronze statue is a must.

I’m sure many of you had a chance to see the factory already, if you haven’t you need to find the time to make it happen.

Now bring on this years driving season.
