When your dealer arranges a factory tour, are you given a specific day and also a specific time of day for the tour.

It is very time specific, and says if you miss the time you are out of luck. Allow more time than you think for 2 lane traffic coming in to Marranello, and not much signage. We used the directions off the Ferrari Owners website, and still had trouble with a few turns. Our tour waited 30 minutes for a group, so call if you are running late. Worth all the time and trouble, and be aware that from 1:30 - 2:30-3:00 all the shops close for lunch break. Have the Gnoche at the Cavalino Restaurante, it was great!

I just got back from the Factory tour last week. Trying to find Maranello signs in Modena is tough at best. They've actually put in a round about where there used to be lights and they took down the sign for Maranello. Give yourself plenty of time. As was mentioned they give you a specific day and time and you must bring your invitation. It will be FED-EXed to you from Ferrari. Our group was small, only 9 persons and lasted just over 2 hours. Saw the new FXX and a heavily body clad new front engine V12 that sounded fantastic going around Fiorano as well as the F430's, 575's and 612's. It is a great tour!

We had our "dealer arranged tour" made in conjunction with our time in the Maranello/Modena area for the San Marino GP in Imola. Go one better than the dealer arranged tour - if you are spending the $$ to go to Italy, why not spend another 600+ Eur and do the Owner's Factory Tour. We did that last October and it was definitely worth every Euro and the icing on the cake is the F1 Test Day we did this past April as it was in conjuction with testing for Imola. That was in the vicinity of 2000 Euro but again, worth every Euro. it's very easy to get to Maranello from Modena if you are staying at the Holiday Inn at Modena Nord or even better if staying at the Domus in Maranello. The Owner's tour included a night at the Planet Hotel - we had the best room in the hotel - top floor with a balcony that overlooked the racing division, Il Cavallino, Factory, Galleria. For Test Day they had us at the Real Fini in Modena. In any case, it's very easy to get around there. We already have hotel reservations in Maranello and Lufthansa tickets to go back for the GP in April '06. Unless you are interested in going to the Alfa Museum not far from Malpensa Airport in Milan, make your flight plans into Bologna - it saves a drive and time. In any event - the name of the game is to enjoy yourself in Italy. I got spoiled on Italy when a brithday present was a week in Rome from my husband many, many years ago. We had an awesome Lancia for a week.

Thanks for the great info. I then called to request a factory tour and learned there are no tours the three days I'm in Venice.

If and when you do get the coveted appointment, consider staying at the Planet Hotel which is directly in front of the main entry of the factory. The building also houses the Ferrari Store. The rooms were VERY clean and very modern - somewhat more impressive than the Domus!

I was lucky to get a corner room (number 404) which gave me a birds-eye view of the factory entry and the Cavallino restaurant which is also right there.

It was a great view for photo's! The sounds of the racetrack nearby were like nothing I had ever heard before.... un-friggin-believable!

Would I go again? You betcha!
