    Recently we were asked to recover a '96 355 GTB that had stuck in two gears at once. when I stripped the 'box I found that the fork/hook on the left-hand end of the 1st/2nd transverse shift rail had broken. For safety, I had the other forks Magnafluxed, and found another (identical) one was cracked. I'll post a photo tomorrow if anyone's interested.

    Has anybody had this happen to their car?

    Also, studying the parts catalogue pictures on the Ricambiamerica site (love that place...) I noticed that the forks for the F1 'box appeared to be stronger, which would make sense, but I couldn't find out if the F1 forks are interchangeable with the non-F1 ones.

    Can anybody enlighten me?

    Nope.....

    2.7 and 5.2 manual use same forks

    F1 are not interchangable....look at Parts #1,2,3,4,9,10, that interact with PN # 32,33,34,35

    The only options for manual were on the CH gearbox PN # 10(only 3rd/4th fork but don't have a clue as to it being more sturdy..I would have to breakdown my CH box to verify)

    Come across this issue a couple of times.
    As mentioned those parts are not interchangeable.
