this guy in Jersey has been selling kit cars in the Autotrader for years. he had that Boxer listed exacly 2 years ago with those same exact pics. he has had the back daytona spider kit car for over 2 years also. how he gets to keep selling these crap cars out of his nice neighborhood is beyond me. i have called on 2 occasions to be nosey and he came across as a snake oil salesman. i tripped him up time after time with details on trim/engine/tranny qustions related to the door vettes and fiero's versus the real ferrari trim. i busted his ass good and told him he better watch what he sells with Ferrari and Lamborghini all over it....... WE ARE WATCHING YOU!

if you guys think THAT is bad, would you believe that several of the 308 KIT cars have sold for MORE than a decent 308 WTF ? who the hell buys this crap?? also that guy in Jersy doent do any work on them, nor does he build them. he seems to be in property sales or some other "real" business and plays with the kit cars. he lied repeatedly to me on the phone when pressed with Tech questions and came across as not knowing anything about cars other than placing the ads.

This guy selling these replicas sells the "Its better than the real thing to own and drive it". The people buying these replicas believe that also, cheap parts and no expensive maintenance costs with Ferrari looks. Unfortunately the general public is unaware of Ferrari replicas and sees the badges and thinks it's real also, so it's a big con for the owners of these replicas and the uninformed that think they are real. So IMO they are the ultimate posers as they just bought the car for curb appeal and attention but are missing out on the greatest part of owning a real Ferrari as to how they drive and sound.
Not only do they miss out on the best part of a ferrari, "how they drive and sound" but the asthetics are compromised also. Ferraris have a harmony of line and a design balance that the replicas totaly lack with their compromised proportions. Of course some couls argue that the 612 suffers the same ills. Another point is that a fair number of ferrari/porche etc owners are also missing out on how the cars go, and probably wouldnt notice if they were powered by a toyota, so many real ferrari owners are into it for the pose. Then there are some so called "kit cars" like cobras and gt40's that are real performance cars which are well engineered and bought by appreciative owners. I think the term "kit car" covers too wide a field. One thing for sure, a fake ferrari in plastic is just a ludicrous pose. Just as bad as some fake countaches. Hovever when we get into recreated gto's with real ferrari motors and aluminum bodies that cost 300k the question or answer is a little less black and white.

This is very true...I have been asked numerous times in my previous 308, 328 and even in my current 355 spider..."is it real?" Once in my 308 a guy asked me in the local auto parts parking lot "that's not a real Ferrari, right?"...I said "yup, Fiero!"...he punched his buddy in the shoulder..."I told you!" Dave
ok, is it me or is it my real italian blood that sees these cars froma distance(never up close) and thinks that about six inches is always missing from the front or rear? take that six inch comment any way you want. seriously, why post this on our site? oh nevermind, i just read hes from new jersey. now i understand everything.
Actually it is the "Scrambling Cavallino" emblem. Highly sought after and extremely rare. Only used on Ferraris destined for the hilly northern regions of Italy.
I love the air intakes on the bottom of the quarter panel. The deep red paint really shine! That car is bada$$. I would not want to have to throw down against a beast like that, 4 sho! Dude, do you get a set of neon lights to go on the undercarriage when you buy the kit, or is that an aftermarket item to indicate 'superhot'? Maybe if you put 26" wheels on it it would be even more desirable for its market segment. I would love to pop a wheelie in that rig, and show the other kids riding hopped up go peds what power is really all about! I hope to not have to face a street challenge in my modest 89 348ts! BT

I have a confession to make. prior to buying my gt4, I had been looking at fake ferrari's, and specificly the daytona replica; which car has some of the best classic lines on any car (imo). Could have picked up an ok one at around 16k. a really nice yellow one was available at 20 on a private deal but went for 24. I also confess that the idea of a ferrari body with a corvette guts had some appeal, because what scared me off from the ferrari was maintenance. some of them go for 30 to 40k, and cost 75k to make according to the guys who are making them (rowley); that of course makes no sense to me (75k for a fake daytona); but hell they're getting 40k + for a fake shelby, which is just a corvette with some cougar parts and alittle tweaking to the engine. ultimately, I opted to buy the deal deal, for around the same money as the fake. father forgive me for I have (almost) sinned.
I watched the movie "speed zone" many times back in 1989, yet this car is 2002? HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ????? Some kind of "back to the future" effect?
