Something is always worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I don’t understand Pokémon cards, but I hear some are valuable for instance.

 

Is the metal trash can we call r2d2 worth 3 million? I don’t know. Movie props is a world that I don’t have much knowledge on. I just know somebody thinks the plastic rod Mark Hamill held is worth half a million. So it is.

 

It's very logical that a fake Ferrari, was bought by a plastic surgeon, from a Hollywood studio flake !

 

haha.... I love that movie. That'd be a holy grail piece if you were in to collecting movie cars which I know some people are.

 

It’s a classic. And everyone that’s a fan knows the car. I can understand the value….

Its not a fake Ferrari

Its a real movie prop.

 

No one is buying this as a car, they are buying it as a piece of motion picture history. Very different things.

 

I've spent good money on props before from the films I grew up loving, it's fun to have them on display - it's both a talking point when guests are round

 

Movie props can be pretty cool, I still kick myself for not buying the Stunt prop Kawasaki KZ1000 that was used in Terminator 2, it still had the rigging used to launch it out of the Cyberdyne building when the T1000 jumped into the Police Helicopter. It was for sale for about $5k

The smartest thing about this car was it played the part for minimal cost while raking in
$70 million at the box office.

 

I mean it’s a good movie, but $350-400k is ridiculous. What is even worse is that they tossed in a noisy Ford V8.

I don't know...I counted the wires on the distributor cap and only came up with 6. But I can see why someone would be willing to pay up for a movie prop, IF only for a movie prop. If this replica never saw any movie time it wouldn't be worth 10 grand. My .02

 

Nope it takes TWO people to make an auction. The second highest bidder sets the sale price, when they've hit THEIR limit, that's the end of the auction. You DON'T have an auction with one buyer.

 

True but I was referring to making a sale in general, not an auction. You only need one interested party to sell something outside an auction.

Although an auction is better for a seller.
