Time moves fast, it's getting late in the year. Hopefully we'll spot many more cars before it is time for fur coats.

I, for one, am really ready for Fall.

Hey Andreas, I'm gonna be at Northwestern on the 22nd. Is that too far from you for lunch?

TR Southbound on LSD on Sunday afternoon.

348 Southbound on the Inner Drive on Tuesday. I yelled at the driver (whom I believe knows me), but no reaction, oh well.

went to see the stones this weekend. had a room @ hilton palmer house. walked to haray carray's for dinner. walked to millenium park. took a cab to soldier field. walked back to the hotel (beautiful evening). took the girlfriend this afternoon to a nice seafood resturaunt next to bentley gold coast. walked the magnificant mile and back. the entire weekend we saw three unique cars. a late model NSX, bentley arnage and a continental GT. that's it? sepnt 48 hours in the loop and gold coast and not a single f-car? and yes, i was looking...

    where was everyone?

On the Saturday afternoon the 17th, I saw Dr. Dan with his F40 heading south on Gouger in Homer Glen. I was in my TR and honked and we waved as we passed.

For sure! I see one at least once a week....more than I can say about seeing a Ferrari....ANY Ferrari!...:)

Besides....If I was in that market,I'd take a few year old Azure over a GT....

My Dad owns a Roller, two in fact. Friends of his have a few Bentleys. Ask Skip about the nightmares about the newer models. Trust me Frank, your tough ass look would be all mobster behind the wheel of the English pride, but even if you found Capone's hidden vault with Geraldo it might not be enough to keep the car on the road. The delays in parts for these cars make Ferrari look like Autozone. Stick with the Audified Conti GT because it will drop like a rock price wise just like all the rest, but have a bit more German in the upkeep and performance wise, well I've personally see one destroy a 360. Having driven one slowly around for a few miles, it feels very solid to the rolling, top heavy feel of the older Rolls and Bentleys.

Spotted: Yellow Maserati Spyder in Maui... and a whole bunch of white Fords. Seriously that is like the state color for cars.

Aside from dozens of Ferraris at Goodwood I only spot one 355 Spider in two entire weeks of Europe. Amazingly low spotting rate.

Spotted Lotus Elises and Exiges all over Britain. There they come a dozen a dime.

Normally I would agree but my feelings are being mixed now, as mentioned my Dad has the older ones, ( limited Silver Spur, early series Cloud, departed Grandfather had a Bentley Tubro, ) but this is Frank we're talking about. And he's about the bling so imagine Tom Selleck glasses and a smile out of the sleek coupe and not a Emporio A suit clad man on his way to SuperDawg. I don't want one of my buddies hurting his bike battered back doing some fixin up that Nigel should have on a 90s made car. The new ones, at least what Im told from one owner, are very much different and the German way can be adapted. Despite the fact that they all look like VW Pheatons, the numbers can not be ingorned and some of the styling is growing on me. Everyone has their own tates in looks, but none would argue about such a large GT car blasting away from a 456 like a smooth rocket. Plus, in a few years a used GT, ( maybe still under warranty, ) will be close in price to the 2+2 Ferrari and most likely with far less abuse.

Would you feel the same way about Ferrari if GM purchased it?

I'd be happy to talk to you via private message, where this topic can go is quite interesting. I personally like the Bentley/Lambo German feel. Though I never owned a Lambo, my family has had a history of Rollers and I know their quirks. Part of growing up, their behavior, driving characteristics, overall image was by far the most classy. Quick day dreaming gives thoughts of older gentleman and horse jumping events. But I even think Bentley and Rolls knew a change was needed ( as did Aston. ) Old world feel while great, becomes musty and tired. Add in the state of the economy and the numbers just cant keep up. The new wave of today buying these cars is mixed professionals, not just old money. If I stayed single and stayed away from the real estate game, I could easily see myself driving a the new four door GT spinoff of the GT as a partial replacement to my former 575. Ten years ago, 1995, would a 30+ year old be saying they wanted a Corniche? No way and I don't cite M.C. Hammer as a decent exception. Times have changed and it is stellar to see class and style mixing well with wild performance and a little more access. I don't think it has cheapened the image too much, I mean the new 4 door will be over 200K.

As for GM and Ferrari, we both know that is just a funny but completely ridiculous comment. I think any car maker probably looks for a bomb shelter at sounds such as "Fiat," or "Alfa succeeding in America."

Not quite the same comparison: If a German automaker buys up a British brand, that will probably improve reliability.

If GM buys up a car manufacturer it is bound to go downhill from there.

Let's say Audi buys up Ferrari (or buys them out of their FIAT deal). That wouldn't bother me a bit.

I don't think I'd argue that VW's influence has made the Bentley a better car. If I could get my 750 and my Bentley to mate - then I'd have something. It's just not the same, though. It's not the company that built the engines for the Hurricane and Spitfire that saved Britain anymore.

Although not related, Bentley's image today is really annoying. The most attention I get is from 16-20 year olds that think Snoop Dogg is in there somewhere behind the deep glass tint. I like it better as a gentleman's car than a thug rapper's car.
