My headrests will not stay up and as they slide down there seems to be no detent at all. Any suggestions on a fix? I've found a small machined collar that will slip over the chrome support and lock in place but that's definitely plan B.

Sounds like the cotter pins on each tube inside the seat back aren't doing the job. They provide friction against the head rest posts. Easy to check and re-bend if so. Can remove the upper screw that hold the plate Against the seat, then the two upper screws in back and pull out and look. That's how my 79 is constructed.

Your in good luck. There is currently a thread on this very subject in the 308 section. It is very detailed with great pic. His head rests were stuck in the down position. Hope this is of some use to you. Jq.
