this morning getting some breakfast, checkout-chick totals up and it's $9.02, so she says "that's nine dollars thanks."

gf hands over her bankcard and tells her to "take it to $100", in other werds put the $9 on her card and draw out $91. the checkout-chick gets out a calculator, spends 30 seconds figgering out the math, an extra 30 seconds recounting the change, then hands back $90.95.

so, she decided to round-up and spend an extra minute to give a bunch of useless change rather than a straight-out $91.

chick probly gets paid $16 an hour, so that extra minute cost 26 cents.

what a way to make 3 cents!!!

Unless that is for some "premium" brand, one would think that would be a carton (5 packs or something)
Although, incidently, my last pack of 3 (yes 3) cigars cost me $90...

A carton might cost that much... $8 or $9 a pack of 25's isnt unusual... and often more expensive in pubs/clubs etc

It's amazing how FEW wealthy people I know smoke, and how many people in the street DO smoke.

Also... Lottery tickets... I very rarely buy a ticket... but today my son saw a great big # 27 on a sign.... meaning 27 Million up for grabs, and went running over to it... But of course, for the Ferrari significance I decided #27 could be a good number... so I "blew" $20 on a quick pick...

I got two lines with 3 numbers in (one line has a supp# too if that means anything?)

Dunno what I win yet... but gotta get my money back?

At least they wish you "Good Luck" when you buy from a Tatts outlet... when you buy from a newsagent/NSW Lotteries agent, if the person behind the counter can speak english, they barely grunt at you as the money is grabbed from your hand... :(:(

Oh and don't forget with Tattslotto, on a usual weekend around 5 or so people share first division. ON a big one, at LEAST 10, more often 15, so you only get 2 million or so form it.

That's why popwerball is the way to go, higher jackpots (usually), and only when the jackpot is really high (around 20 million) have 2 people ever won it.

And both you have so little chance of winning, that basiclaly you are giving you money away on anyway, so why not waste it on the one that gives more back ;)

Gambling is a sport championed and dominated by losers...

But for $20, the throw away is worth the excitment in a little boys eyes as the numbers come out. And especially if I get $10 back.... the 2 hours of entertainment is cheap.

While on the topic of smoking. A close family friend here, has been smoking since he was 14 years old. He is 84 years old this year. All he has ever smoked is Log Cabin tobacco. He used to smoke 2 tins a week, but in the last few years has cut it down to 1 tin. Funnily enough, besides being overweight and goin a little blind,he seems very healthy for his age. :)

More commonly known as voluntary taxation. No coincidence the richest man in Australia is heavily into the gambling business.

lotto, tobacco, junk food, soft drink... funny how the small-ticket-items which are 'everyday luxuries' to the common man are such huge money-spinners...

Aye, but a few times a year when it is high, it's nice to dream...

I merely want to say, I do NOT buy every week, I buy one $15 ticket every month or two when PB is in double digit jackpot figures.

I'd just waste it somewhere else, and $100 over a year is nothing really.
