FALSE overheating alerts on the 612

    Wondering if anyone here has experience with a false overheating alert on the 612. About two months ago my car all of a sudden said the temp was redline and the alert visually and audibly came up on the dash. I immediately pulled over and contacted Hagerty to come get it. Ferrari Lake Forest had the car for awhile trying to figure it out but the car ran perfect the whole time they had it. And it drove perfectly fine for me wiht no issues for a month, then a couple weeks back it did it again. I immediately pulled over, opened the hood, and checked the engine above and below for leaks but there was nothing. I let the car sit for less than 10 mins, got in and restarted it to see how it was and the car perfectly idled and maintained 180 degrees (mid gauge). I found that strange because no way the car if it really was over 260 degrees would go down and hold at 180 degrees within minutes. Again drove perfect for weeks until a couple days ago it did it again, but this time I was at speed going down a four lane highway so I couldn't just pull over.... within seconds of "redlining" the gauge crept back down and settled at 180. Clearly a false reading. And yet again this same thing happened yesterday, declared overheating and within seconds came back down. So..... anyone out there ever had anything like this happen on their 612 or related Fcar?? The car drives perfect, idles perfect and is totally up to date on all services. Thanks in advance for your help!

    I would need to look at the wiring diagram but most temp senders are ground signaled. If the signal wire has been pinched or rubbed something and is making contact with metal (ground) it will spike. The fact that it is getting more frequent would lead me down that road for diagnostics. Sensors don't usually change direction that fast.

    The consensus right now is that it’s a hot air bubble in the cooling system….. so I’ll flush the system as part of the fluids service and hope that’s it!
