The man said many things in his life. Some smart, some controversial. Let's put a collection together. I'll start with one I remember: "Goodbye World Championship." (Ciao Mondiale) He said that after Pironi broke his legs in the practice session to the German GP in 1982. Pironi was leading the championship after Villeneuve died earlier that year.
I dont put much faith in sincere and deep friendships between men who are driven to confront risk every Sunday "It is useless to justify lack of success by hiding behind misfortune, which is no other than the sum total of all the factors in all the situations which we did not know how or were unable to foresee. What are these masters of risk, champions of cynicism, record-breaking daredevils, seeking in the thrilling rush of victory? Perhaps the meaning of their lives (in reference to racing drivers)
"Ah, so sorry he is dead, but how is the car?" coupled with.... "Yes, tragic he has been killed.... so, where is that hot chick he was hanging out with?" Paraphrasing of course.... Terry
In Brock Yates' biography Enzo, after his first ride in the new F40, is quoted: "This car is so fast it will make you sh*t your pants." I've always thought that every F40 should have been delivered with a silver plaque on the dashboard containing that quote and a facsimile of Enzo's purple-ink signature.
"I build a young man's car that only rich old men can afford" - not sure where I read this quote, but....
The only words he ever uttered to Brian Redman.... (pinching Brian's cheek)..."You're a nice-a boy...."

I don't sell cars; I sell engines. The cars I throw in for free since something has to hold the engines in. (imagine spoken in the ever-so-cool Italian accent!)
Carbon, I just read your review of this Italian movie about the life of Enzo Ferrari in the FML and ordered a copy. You sold me on it and I eagerly anticipate the film.
When I heard this one the first time I thought it was a joke, but I heard it again. Is it for real? Do we have a reference?
Doesn't matter it's a great one for the romantics. Enzo and Sachiro Honda two brilliant, eccentric and fiery engineers - it's all about their engines. I vaguely remember something in response to why he didn't go for tobacco sponsorship on his f1 cars in the 60's (I think): "I don't smoke and neither do my cars". Can anyone confirm this?
I use a derivative of this one, "If you buy the engine, I'll give you everything else for free." Given the abysmal build-quality of most Ferrari's non-mechanical components, I think we got our money's worth ! -Daniel
The Ferrari is a dream - people dream of owning this special vehicle and for most people it will remain a dream apart from for those lucky few. - Enzo Ferrari
"I am an agitator of men" -Enzo Ferrari. Explaining the secret to his success in his autobiography. He noted that he possessed no real mechanical aptitude, and credited his ability to bring out the best of the people around him through his various machinations (sometimes Machiavellian IMHO) as instrumental in the success of his company.
