I am sorting through some A/C issues on my 456M, I resolved the mystery of the missing connector and now I am wondering about the electric radiator fans. Do the radiator cooling fans turn on immediately (primary or secondary) when the A/C is engaged - regardless of engine temP? It is the case on my 348 (which has a separate fan for the A/C HE) but not on the 456 - is that normal?

I can't give you an answer specific to the 456 but on the 308 the right side fan kicks on as soon as the AC is turned on. It makes sense because drawing the heat out of the AC condenser is required regardless of the engine coolant temperature. My old Audi has a 3 speed cooling fan that always runs at least the lowest speed when the AC is on. In any event, a fan should be running to move air across the condenser when the AC is on.

My fan comes on in my 456M just like my F355 when I have the air on.

Something must be up since the A/C isn't very cool and the fan doesn't turn on.. both do work when the temps get high but not when the A/C is running.

Mine is ice cold in both. Although I've only had the 355 air on a couple of times. The 456M has been my daily driver the last couple weeks and it gets hot in Atlanta so the air has been on almost every day. Cross your fingers that you dont have to replace that HVAC unit.
