http://www.motorantiques.com/web/index.php?option=com_hotproperty&task=view&id=25&Itemid=32 Does anyone know what the asking price or any other details about this Dino?
According to the dino register it started life as a yellow GT, converted to a GTS. I suspect when it was resprayed to silver they converted it to chairs and flares. i would be very doubtful about that sort of conversion!!!
Looking at the listing brought to mind the question I always have when I see "low mileage" cars. Who's to say this car doesn't have 127K on the clock, or 227K? Unless you have every service record, from the beginning of time on a car, and those records note the mileage, this car and others like it could have any kind of mileage imaginable on them. One of the selling points is the low mileage and I'm just troubled generally by this, and that there's really no way to confirm mileage in most cases. So, if you're buying on mileage, you're buying on faith in many instances. In PA, they record the car's mileage at each inspection, and write it on the inspection sticker, in the book, and report it to the DMV. Even that's no guarantee, but at least there's a record somewhere of what mileage was on the car on a yearly basis. When I bought my car with 50,000+ miles on it, the three year old inspection sticker matched it for mileage. When I bought an old Porsche a year or so ago, the 1971 inspection sticker matched the mileage on the odometer. At least these cases, you had some evidence to support the mileage claims. Just wondering if anyone else thinks this. Dave
for some reason, i still haven't mastered the cut and paste technique, here is the fabtasy junction dino http://www.fantasyjunction.com/used-cars.php?id=87cdeaf0215ffb0a2662960d0445a593
I looked at a coupe yesterday, USA version. Paint was peeling off, interior had big holes in it the guy turned down $90,000. Also saw the same day a very late 74 Spyder, books and tools but nothing special. It sold for $210,000. I think it is impossible right now to buy a car and to be able to put any money into it without being upside down. When I bought my Spyder, I paid $125,000 and everyone thought I was nuts. Seems like a bargain now. I paid $130,000 for my black coupe, original chairs and flares, one of 5 USA models made that way. It also seems like a bargain now. I wonder if we look back at the prices they're getting today if we will think that was a bargain. Only time will tell.
I bought my 206 GT 2 years ago for 120k, it was for sale for 140k and sat on the market. Am I glad I bit the bullet and bought it. It's in excellent condition. If I shipped it to Europe it would probably sell for around 150k Euros which is now $225k !!!!!! Yikes......going for a drive upcountry in a few minutes........ Gregg Blue Maui Hawaii
