Would anyone like to provide their advice on how to clean (launder/dry clean/washer/hang dry/etc.) a "compliant (FIA, SFI, etc.) driving suit? I ask because I'm having the worst luck with these damn things shrinking at the dry cleaners. TIA.

I wash mine in my washing machine with laundry soap for delicates. Works great.

There is one dry cleaner in all of Toronto that I would consider for my race gear, but it's just too easy to do it at home and know that it's not going to be damaged.

I had my dry cleaners do it about once every two events or so, but I have known him for about 15 years and trust him implicitly.

Dry cleaning has been known to help the colorfastness of the suit. However, some feel the dry cleaning solution could contain flammable chemicals and, if the suit is left in the solution too long, it could feed a fire.

Washing your suit at home is perfectly fine as well. It is recommended you use a non-abrasive detergent such as Woolite and don't use bleach. Its best to let your suit hang dry, and always out of direct sunlight. The Nomex is UV light sensitive and can fade quickly. Putting the suit in the dryer is OK as well. Just be sure to fasten all Velcro, because it is very abrasive

Wanted to stop in and report that a cold wash, cold rinse using Woolite, and with a combination of "delicate" tumble dry and line drying worked better than any previous home or dry cleaning attempt. The suit still fits! :) That lasted a few days before getting dirty/oiled all over again this past weekend at Willow Springs.
