Simply awesome! Very nice work!!! It's like the Yankee workshop over there. I also enjoyed the bonus pics of the table.
I can't go without saying what great work you have done. I am about 60% sure I'm going to make the cabinets for my kitchen. I live in an Arkansas mansion (2000 sq ft) so the kitchen isn't very big. My plan was to do faceless cabinets (I think that is what they are called). Now for the weird part. I was thinking of painting them with automotive paint. I have done some research on it and it looks like it can be done if the wood is coated with auto body filler or something of the sort. Do you have any input on this? Again, excellent work! Gene
Man. No, I don't know any thing about painting. I can barely brush white on the posts! By faceless, I suspect you are referring to the European cabinets that have no faceframe?
Yes, the European style is what I am thinking about doing. I'm just not sure though, as have space for tools or the Ferrari, not both. I'll have to build another garage first. Gene
I'd sooner shoot myself than try to bondo a set of cabinets. I've used it extensively for prototyping some stuff and also to repair the corner of a table (dog chewed it off, I was going to paint it black anyways) and it's a pretty brutal material to work with. Try it and see what you think..
Oh no, you're thinking about it all wrong. Not only are there some great multifunction machines (Shopsmith) but you can put them on wheels and roll them out of the Ferrari's way! http://www.shopsmith.com/
I actually have bondo'd some cabinet faces and you are right, it isn't easy to work with. Does anyone have any thoughts on what type of wood a person would use and how to prepare it for auto paint? I'm sure a lot of you have seen Pininfarina's kitchen cabinets and they have an automotive finish. Uro, Thanks a lot for the shopsmith link. I have enough room for equipment if I get rid of the broken treadmill, 1000lb Sun Server etc. Spending money on tools is so fun.. Gene
