RB30DET, since a single snail will always kill 2 snails, can support upwards of 2000hp, which = a very fun, STREETLEGAL Skyline...

I'm going to go see the movie, and hand out rice citations... My friend is going in his 11sec EVO VIII with a full bottle to play with them :)

Actually, the 4.6L SOHC was first used in the Lincoln Town Car in 1991. The engine wasn't available in the F-150 until 1997. Also, one of the better big-cube racing engines out there (the Dodge Viper engine) was originally a truck engine. Not much of a pedigree, but it gets the job done.

I have to disagree with you about the moddability, too.

It looks like a crap movie from the posters... look at the cars with thier shiney paint and chrome wheels.. terrible.. real drift cars have broken fiberglass, tape to cover cracks, and steelies (non chrome, metal wheels)
they also have roll cages or stripped interiour, and dont have thier boots full of fully sik subwoofas and dvd players

As for the twin turbo clubsport - (TRYHRD) for those in australia who know about the car. I saw this car at autosalon break an engine rod, and still put down 700rwhp... it now puts out an insane ammount of power - the owners daily driver is a 355, so he's used to that kinda power.. it sports some kind of ice cooler...

I'm going to have to say something on this point.

    I've owned four 4.6 Cobras before I bought the S4 (1996, 2001, 2003, and 2004).

Sure you really can't do too much with the 4.6 NA, but can you really do that much with an NA Skyline engine?

My 1996 Cobra was supercharged and made 450 rwhp.

My 2003 Cobra had just a few bolt ons and made 470 rwhp / 480 ftlbs.

My 2004 Cobra had a ported blower and just about every bolt on minus headers and made 503 rwhp / 538 ftlbs.

Now there were guys that changed out the stock supercharger on the 03/04 and made well into the 700s. Then were were other guys that put large single turbos and some twins on the 03/04 cobras and made into the 1000s.

I wouldn't say they aren't mod friendly motors...

Oh yeah, the movie will suck :)

The NA 4.6's are not easily modded to make large HP. they can, just like any other motor. And the Cobra motors were beefed up, which i will speak on in just a minute....But the base 4.6 liter GT and 4.6 Cobra 32 valve engines are not a good motor for modability, and if you dont know that im sorry

Now the Terminators (03/04 Cobra's for those of you who dont know) on the other hand, those things have modability like no other.

Now this isnt due to the fact that the 4.6 is an awesomely modded motor, its due to the fact that ford underrated it, put a big blower pulley, and tuned it down....This is why with a Chip, smaller pulley, headers, and minute other mods, these cars run 500-550rwhp without a sweat.

Not to mention, the 4.6 that was put into the Cobra's had numerous forged internal parts which are not found in any other 4.6L mustang. The regular 4.6 motor CANNOT sustain the kind of power that the cobra motors could, short of completley rebuilding the block with forged internals.

...anything else you want to add.

    Saw the movie today.

Totally sucked, so dumb it hurt. The "plot" was so dumb it was silly.

Drifting may look cool, (not to me, but maybe to someone), but it is not an effective way around a track.

The climax ofthe movie involves a drifting race, go figure, and I got to tell you, if I was racing, I would be hitting apex's not trying to lock cool.

Total crap. Not even worth a dvd rental.

Oh, the only reason I watched it, is due the fact that my coworker and I are stuck here in nowhere Indiana for a week. We got out of training early and had time to kill before dinner.....

Yeah, it's worth the entertainment value. Go for the flashy cars, the great driving stunts (drifting retarded or not, watch Rhys Millen and his dad do incredible things with cars is worth a matinee ticket), and laugh at the "fact" that every chick in Japan is drop-dead hot and drives a Skyline.

Technical accuracy is, uh, less than stellar but it's still a fun ride. I mean, you could be seeing that Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock crapfest, so any movie about cars is a blessing :)

Same way they put huge wings that produce downforce on their rear-wheels in their FWD cars. By not doing things right and pulling the e-break at stop lights and running into poles.

Saw the movie. Very far fetched plot, some pseudo stripper girls dancing in a garage, a not so scary Asian mobster, and a Japanese engined Mustang racing on a moountain road. Glad I saw it with my brothers so we could enjoy making fun of it. If you want to see good fast driving rent Ronin. The drifting is an amazingly slow way around the curve. I am pretty sure my 4 cylinder Tacoma could drive the curves faster.

Yeah, drifting isn't exactly the fastest way around the apex...although, if you believe what you see in the movie, it's also the fastest way to go straight!

Drifting got it's start in the Japanese touring car series, and you really don't see it anymore in there, do you? So...if the pros aren't doing it, you can't make me believe that it's the fastest way around. The only way I see it having an advantage is in situations where a car could not take advantage of mechanical or aerodynamic grip, i.e. in a rally type situation. You can't run the car hard and then cound on the grip to decelerate and hold a line, so you fight that balance of control vs. keeping momentum. However, even the rally guys aren't sliding their cars that much when they get on a tarmac section.

That being said, watching the stunt drivers slide the 350z sideways up a parking garage spiral ramp was pretty cool. You know, something to impress the 15 year olds at the mall with.

Oh, and they kind of "forgot" to make it known that you would toss yourself if you tried to drift the Evo without disabling the 4wd on it. My guess now is that every 14 year old on earth comes on here about how the Evo XIIIVIIIXXXVVVIII could kick an F40 LM's a$$ on the track "because the F40 isn't set up for mad tizzite drifting."

Hollywood could make kids believe rolling an SUV is the quickest way around a corner. Kids would be checking out eachothers skinny tires which "barely hold up my ride yo, I'm flippin this sh** left and right dog!"

    Narrorater:
"He thought he knew it all. He lived his life in the fast lane. Until he took a trip from the big city, to the suburbs. Where one cell phone addicted soccer mom with an ace up her sleeve will give him more than he bargained for."

    Tagline:
"Think you can roll with us?"
